With the most California Certified Nursery Professionals in Northern California, Sloat Garden Center has become one of the premier garden centers in North America, offering quality products, broad plant selection and knowledgeable customer service. History:
Sloat Garden Center started in 1958 as part of G.E.T. The first store, which was only seven thousand square feet, was located at the corner of 34th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard in San Francisco. In 1968 the store moved to a larger location and the name was changed to Sloat Garden Center. Always independently owned, over the past five decades Sloat Garden Center has grown to 12 stores serving San Francisco, Marin, and Contra Costa counties.

Heucheras are hot! 🔥 Pronounced "HOO-ker-uh", these perennials are easy to grow and enjoy.

What gardeners really love about them isn't even the flowers...it's the gorgeous foliage that looks great all year long. You'll find them in rich purples, silvers, limes, ambers, and deep greens, and they work beautifully in borders, as groundcovers, or tucked into containers. 💜💚🩶🧡

Fall is for planting California natives! 🧡

California is home to thousands of native plant species that have evolved to thrive in our local ecosystems. Perfectly suited to the Bay Area climate, they typically need less water and maintenance once established.

At Sloat Garden Center, you’ll find some of the easiest and most popular California natives, including:

🌿 Arctostaphylos

🌼 California poppies

💙 Ceanothus

🌾 Eriogonum

💜 Penstemon

Not planning on growing cool weather veggies this year? Don’t let your soil go bare! Plant a cover crop instead!

🌿 Planting cover crops improves soil health, protects against erosion, suppresses weeds, supports beneficial soil microbes, and can even fix atmospheric nitrogen if legumes are used.

🌱 Consider planting: Hairy Vetch, Crimson Clover, Common Buckwheat, Lacy Phacelia, Fava Beans, or a Peas & Oats blend.

Known as Blue Dragon™, these new blue-violet cyclamen are a sight! 💜💙💜💙

Like all cyclamen, they love cool weather and shade, so tuck them into a shady bed or a container, and keep them out of hot afternoon sun if your microclimate runs warm.
