Living beautifully is about creating an environment that transports you the moment you step inside. Our client and John Thompson created
the design narrative which drew from a life well-traveled—from the nightlife glamour of Ibiza and Caribbean island hopping to the historic houses of England, the spice markets of Tangier, and the misted spruce forests of northern Spain.
Because it’s , let’s talk about the details worth noticing:
The Fortuny pillow,precision-cut and mitered Venetian fabric in a concentric bullseye pattern. The occasional chairs are upholstered Pollack’s Charlotta hand-printed linen with raised French knots and medieval Czech folk motifs. Notice the nailhead trim and contrasted welt at the base of the sofa also in Pollack’s Cub evergreen fabric
Complemented by an embroidered tiger pillow and a hand-engraved Nakashi brass lamp from Moradabad, India.
When a room is layered with this level of intention, fine furnishings become far more than decor—they’re an investment in how you live and feel in your home every day.

True design luxury isn’t about buying entirely new pieces—it’s about weaving story, heritage, and soul into modern life. Investing in bespoke, curated interiors creates a functional space that holds memories and honors legacy, such as pairing traditional furniture in a contemporary dining room.
Connecting family heirlooms with bespoke design provides lasting value through:
1.  Timeless Continuity: Integrating cherished heirlooms into modern layouts ensures your home remains personal and immune to short-lived trends.
2.  Craftsmanship: Bench-made and restored vintage pieces are built to endure generations of daily life and celebrations.
3.  Curated Balance: Professional design elevates and positions inherited treasures so they feel intentional and balanced.
Design is an investment in living beautifully every day. If you are ready to honour your home's story, visit our website at www.theportlandesigner.com to share your vision with us.
