Things got a little spooky at Goree yesterday! Between our costume contest and pod decorating contest, the office was full of Halloween spirit and some frightfully good competition.

Thank you to everyone who brought their creativity, costumes, and tricks to the festivities! Take a look through the festivities and tell us—which costume or pod do you think deserves an extra round of applause?

Collaboration within an architecture team goes beyond working toward a shared goal. Understanding individual strengths, encouraging different perspectives, and creating opportunities to learn from one another all contribute to how ideas develop and projects move forward.

Leadership, Unfiltered highlights the perspectives of Goree's leaders and the experiences that have shaped their approach to the industry.

In this edition, Associate Principal Julian Arango, AIA, shares his approach to leading a collaborative team, from adapting to different learning and communication styles to encouraging independent thinking and sharing lessons learned. He also explores how fresh perspectives can challenge initial ideas and lead to design solutions that might not have emerged otherwise.

A little spooky spirit and a few miles together! The Goree Companies joined the Spooky Sprint this past weekend, trading office attire for costumes and enjoying a chance to get moving outside the office.

A great way to spend time with teammates and get into the Halloween spirit!

An evening well spent with our Houston teams! The Goree Companies Fall Social Happy Hour brought colleagues from Goree and Abel Design Group together to catch up, share a few laughs, and make new connections.

We enjoyed the opportunity to unwind and spend time with the people who make our companies what they are. Thanks to everyone who joined us!

Making connections starts with a conversation. Our team gathered in the office for our second employee networking session, sharing practical tips for approaching industry events, starting conversations, and building professional relationships.

Thank you to Julie O’Dwyer, Director of Client OEM Relations, for leading the session and helping our team feel more confident making connections across the industry!

The finish line is in sight at Honda Harlingen! Our team joined Gillman Automotive Group and our project partners for a final construction walkthrough, getting a closer look at the showroom, exterior, and finishing details as the new dealership comes together.

It’s rewarding to see months of collaboration take shape. We look forward to sharing more soon!

Our ping-pong tournament brought out a little friendly competition and plenty of team spirit! Thanks to everyone who played and cheered on their coworkers!

Congratulations to our winner, Aldo Ayala, and runner-up, Caudy Olmos! Last year’s champion, David Velandia, was there to hand off the trophy to our new champ!

Collaboration goes beyond simply working together. It’s also about teaching, learning, and growing together.

Mentorship creates opportunities for knowledge to move across a team. By taking the time to explain the thinking behind a task, encourage questions, and expose others to different disciplines, team members gain a deeper understanding of both their own role and the work happening around them.

That exchange of knowledge builds greater confidence and accountability while creating a team that continues learning from one another with every project.
