Most oyster species fruit best below roughly 600 ppm CO2, so increase fresh air exchange by fanning more often or adding a small fan to your fruiting chamber.

Tip of the Week: Most grain spawn failures start with water, not spores. After hydrating, grains should look plump but feel dry on the surface. If there's water pooling at the bottom of the bag or lots of split kernels, you're past field capacity and inviting bacteria. Let the grain sit in a colander for 30 to 60 minutes so the surface moisture steams off and drains before you bag and sterilize.

Tip of the Week: When transferring on agar, cut from the leading edge. The outermost ring of growth is the youngest, most vigorous mycelium and the farthest from anything that landed near your original inoculation point. Take a small triangle (about 5mm per side) right at the margin to keep blade contact to a minimum, and sterilize your scalpel then let it cool for a few seconds before cutting so you don't kill what you're moving.
