Sometimes the job description includes “wildlife rescue.” 🐇
Last Friday, Ben found a rabbit in one of the pools he services.
It had apparently been struggling for quite a while. When he spotted it, the poor little thing was barely floating, completely still, with only its nose above the water.
So pool service stopped for a minute.
Ben got it out and brought it to me. It was soaking wet, skinny-looking and absolutely exhausted. We dried it off, warmed it up and gave it some time to recover.
By noon, I went to check on it and could hardly believe it was the same rabbit.
Fluffy.
Wide-eyed.
Alert.
And very ready to get back to being a rabbit. ❤️
We released it near the marsh once it had recovered.
This was not Ben’s first unexpected rescue either. Over the years he has helped birds trapped inside screen enclosures, squirrels, turtles, even snakes, and now another very lucky rabbit.
Most days he takes care of pools. Every once in a while, he saves a life too.
