This living room had wall-to-wall carpet.

An easy update? Add gorgeous wood floors.

This family made many memories in this living room, and the carpet had put up a good fight.

But it was time for something that could stand the test of time and family life.

No walls needed to be knocked down on this one. We kept it purely cosmetic!

Now the living room is transformed into a space that feels like theirs and shows off their new investment in their home that will last for years.

It looks like nothing is happening. Here's what actually happening.

Before we could start digging, we had to get the power moved.

Not the most glamorous part of the process, but definitely one of the important ones.

Between coordinating the move, working through delays, and waiting on timelines, there’s a lot that has to happen behind the scenes before the first shovel hits the ground.

Remodeling isn’t always about what you can see. Sometimes the biggest progress happens behind the scenes.

Ever wonder what demo day actually looks like? 👀

There’s a little more to it than swinging a sledgehammer. And the last one might surprise you!

1️⃣ Come prepared.

If you're doing some demo yourself, grab work gloves, safety glasses, and a mask. Five gallon buckets are great for tile, and garbage cans make drywall cleanup easier.

2️⃣ Dust happens.

We seal off the work area and protect your HVAC system, but dust still finds its way around. That's why we typically do a final clean at the end of the project.

3️⃣ It's not like TV.

We're not always knocking down walls or ripping out cabinets. A lot of demo means carefully removing what needs to go while protecting what stays.

Demo day takes a little more planning than you might think!

Every home has a “drop zone.” Where’s yours??

Days are busy, and this family needed a place to throw coats, shoes, and everything in between without making it look like a tornado had come through.

We know that transition from the car to the house can be an easy time to drop everything you just lugged inside.

We wanted to give all those things a home so we added a mudroom.

Our goal was to create an intentional drop zone that was organized but still looked presentable.

Now this family has a place for everyone to hang their coats and stash their odds and ends, and Mom can walk by with a sigh of relief knowing everything has a place.

We're putting an elevator in our house. Here's why.

We wanted this home to work for multiple generations, now and down the road.

The elevator will connect all three levels of the house, with a step-free entrance from the garage. It’s a practical detail that makes the house easier to navigate today and gives us more flexibility for the future.

Sometimes the best design decisions are the ones you plan for before you need them.
