Are your curtains blocking your natural light?

One of the biggest mistakes people make when hanging curtains is not extending the rod far enough past the window!
For my living room refresh, I extended my curtain rod 10 inches past the window molding. A good starting point is 8–12 inches, but every window is different!
On my door wall, I had to account for the sconces, radiator, and curtain stack. I also used four panels so the curtains wouldn’t cover the side windows when fully open.
✨ The goal? Curtains that cover your windows when closed but let in as much natural light as possible when open!
