Some more disturbing facts about Vincent van Gogh:

1. He wrapped his severed ear and reportedly delivered it to a woman at a brothel in Arles.
2. Van Gogh voluntarily admitted himself to the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole psychiatric hospital after experiencing repeated psychological crises.
3. During some episodes, he experienced hallucinations, confusion, and severe mental distress.
4. His exact medical condition remains unknown. Historians and doctors have proposed several possible diagnoses, but none can be confirmed.
5. Before becoming an artist, Van Gogh became intensely religious and lived in extreme poverty while working as a missionary among miners.
6. He had a relationship with Clasina Maria Hoornik, known as Sien, a pregnant s*x worker who already had a young daughter. Van Gogh lived with her and helped support her children.
7. His older brother Vincent was stillborn exactly one year before Van Gogh was born. Van Gogh was given the same name as the deceased child.
8. Van Gogh produced nearly 900 paintings during a career lasting only about ten years.
9. He frequently struggled financially and depended heavily on his younger brother Theo for money.
10. In 1889, residents of Arles petitioned authorities about Van Gogh, expressing concerns about his behavior and asking that he not be allowed to return freely to his home.
11. Van Gogh died at 37 after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest. His death is generally regarded as su***de, although the exact circumstances have been debated.
12. Theo, the brother who financially and emotionally supported Vincent for years, died about six months after Vincent.
13. Vincent and Theo are buried beside each other in Auvers-sur-Oise.
