Utah Rugs Utah Rugs is Utah's oldest operating rug gallery. Artisan-quality, unique handmade traditional & contemporary rugs. Call us at 801-359-6000.

Utah Rugs is Utah’s oldest and premiere rug gallery. From its humbling beginnings in 1979 when brothers Jack and Edmond Simantob started “House of Oriental Rugs” from a 750 square foot store in Salt Lake City, to its eventual movement and renaming to “Simantov Gallery” on Main Street, the company’s reputation for high-quality rugs, excellent service, and authentic and eclectic design remains the same. In 2012 after 32 years in business, the name once again was changed to Utah Rugs and a newly expanded 11,000 square feet gallery was constructed at the present location. Located on convenient Highland Drive, the company remains committed to preserving the traditional art of hand- woven rugs. You are sure to find the rug of your dreams from Utah’s largest inventory (over 13,000 new, antique and vintage) of artisan-quality, handmade rugs from traditional to transitional and contemporary design with sizes ranging from small bathroom mats to over-size carpets, rounds, ovals, squares or hallway runners. In addition, with state of the art cleaning services located on site, and master weaver and rug repair artist Hamid Bashir’s guidance, Utah Rugs is the place to purchase your rug and ensure its health and longevity for years to come.

We love hearing stories from our cherished customers! Here's a heartwarming tale from one of our long-time patrons:

"The first rug I ever bought from you -- when you were downtown Salt Lake. An exquisite Oriental wool rug with elegant cranes. Still my favorite to this day.

(Dark spots in the photo are shadows of my husband in his chair.)

Back in 1973, it was about $2,000, which was twice as much as I wanted to pay then. Hamid's wise words have stayed with me all these years: 'If you buy the one you love, you will never think of the money. If you buy the one you don't really love, you will think of the money every time you look at it.' He was right!"

Thank you for sharing this beautiful memory with us. It brings us immense joy to know that our rugs continue to be a beloved part of your home for decades. 🏡✨

Do you have a special story about your favorite rug from our collection? Share it with us in the comments or send us a message – we'd love to hear from you!
