How long does a home renovation actually take?

One of the first things your contractor should provide is an estimated project timeline.

Once construction begins, you should also have a schedule that identifies major milestones and gives you a clear idea of when the project is expected to be completed.

Home remodeling shouldn’t feel open-ended. A professional contractor should have a plan for starting, managing, and finishing the job.

“We don’t have a mission statement. We have a shared purpose.”

At The Florida Aquarium, that shared purpose is simple: save marine wildlife.

Roger Germann, President & CEO of The Florida Aquarium, explains to Tommy Whitehead why conservation cannot stop with the experts working inside the organization.

Their team can rescue and rehabilitate a sea turtle injured by plastic or a boat strike. But preventing the next one requires everyone to play a role.

That philosophy extends across the Aquarium’s work in science, research, education, coral conservation, sea turtles, penguins, sharks, and the conservation efforts still to come.

“You do your part, we’ll do our part, and we’ll figure it out.”

Imagine being one of the few people in the room when a beluga whale calf is born.

That is one of the moments Roger Germann says still stands out from his career.

But what makes the story even more interesting is what researchers can learn from moments like that.

On Tommy’s Toolbox, Roger explains to Tommy Whitehead how aquariums and zoos can contribute to science by helping researchers better understand things like animal reproduction and development, insights that can then support conservation work in the wild.

The animals may be what bring people through the doors.

The science happening behind the scenes can have an impact far beyond them.

Being part of the South Tampa Chamber has given us more than networking opportunities. It has helped us build real relationships, learn more about the businesses and people shaping Tampa, and stay connected to the community we’re proud to serve.

The Chamber has also given us a platform to share who we are, what we do, and how TomCo Solutions can help homeowners and businesses across Tampa Bay.

As the South Tampa Chamber celebrates 100 Years of Commerce and Community, we’re grateful to be part of an organization that continues to bring people together, support local businesses, and create opportunities for meaningful connection.

That’s why we belong.

Congratulations to the South Tampa Chamber on 100 years of impact. We’re proud to be part of what comes next.

“We need everybody to be part of this.”

That is how Roger Germann, President & CEO of The Florida Aquarium, describes the organization’s shared purpose: to save marine wildlife.

On the upcoming episode of Tommy’s Toolbox, Roger joins Tommy Whitehead for a wide-ranging conversation about leadership, conservation, community, and the future of one of Tampa Bay’s most important institutions.

Roger discusses The Florida Aquarium’s work in coral reproduction, the enormous importance of Florida’s reef tract, and why protecting marine wildlife requires participation from all of us.

He also shares the mindset that has shaped his own career:

“I don’t want to wake up five years from now saying, what if?”

This one is thoughtful, ambitious, and deeply connected to Florida.

We are incredibly excited for you to see it.

Coming Thursday on the Tommy’s Toolbox YouTube page.

What if high school electives were built around what students actually wanted to learn?

That’s the idea behind the multi-track magnet program Ken Wildner created at Keystone Prep.

Students choose between three distinct pathways:

CSI, focused on subjects like forensic science, anthropology, anatomy and psychology.

Mission Control, featuring engineering, robotics and a drone course that can prepare eligible students to sit for the FAA unmanned aircraft certification exam.

Fine Arts, with pottery, painting, sculpture and drawing.

Ken joins Tommy’s Toolbox to explain how Keystone Prep is building an educational experience around student interests and giving them opportunities to explore potential careers before graduation.

He got kicked out of high school his senior year. Now he runs one.

Ken Wildner’s path to becoming Head of School at Keystone Prep High School was anything but traditional.

He hated high school. He was bored, stopped showing up, and eventually got kicked out just months before graduation.

From there came the military, 15 years in sales, and eventually a career change that brought him back into the classroom.

Ken started as a social studies teacher at Keystone Prep. Twelve years later, he’s leading the school.

On Tommy’s Toolbox, Ken shares how his own unconventional path shaped the way he approaches education and connects with students who may not thrive in a traditional school environment.

Sometimes the person who struggled with the system is exactly the person you want helping rethink it.
