I have several rooms that lose power randomly.

On my 1st visit, I couldn’t get the issue to happen for me. I opened up several devices and saw nothing wrong.

Next was the electrical panel, that’s when I saw the Sylvania panel. Notorious issue with the breakers not making good contact to the bus bar. And that they are a split bus. Which means that they do not have a main breaker to shut off the entire panel.

Ultimately, I told the customer with all the different circuits throughout the house having issues randomly, my 1st advice was to replace the panel.

Note: if you start to remove a breaker and it’s bad (especially on this type) it might just fall apart. Or, be to damaged to reinstall it.

So we set up a date to replace it. And sure enough… what do we find?

On the live side,
1- 2 pole 30 breaker burnt A/C unit.
The main 40 amp breaker had been arcing for quite some time. Which was causing the random circuits throughout the house to lose power. Not to mention the (black) burning that occurred inside the panel. Arch/flash small fire.

This is why these panels have been deemed, unsafe.
