I want to preface this that I am a guru of lamps and lights, but I don't claim to be a true guru. I strive to be a better version of myself daily.
I am so grateful for kind and thoughtful clients who are waiting patiently while I go take a much needed vacation to soak up mother nature and restoring my soul.
I woke up to this view of the Smoky Mountains with wispy colorful clouds and was caught up in the moment that I forgot for a moment that not everything is right in the world and it put a smile on my face that sometimes we need to have these micro-doses of hope (like Brené Brown says). I wanted to share with you all just a little micro-dose of hope in spite of some reality.
Right before I left for my vacation a friend I had the joy of knowing and getting to sing with decided to leave this world behind on her own terms and it's been on my mind a lot and I am not here to judge someone's decision to take their own life, but to challenge those who have been left behind. Do we want to remember our loved ones for that one decision or remember them for all the ones they made before?
I have lost too many family, friends to su***de, but I had to come to peace with their decision.
I am reminded that grief is a place you visit, but I don't want to take up residence there, because I am sure there are people who lean on me and maybe see me as their light in a dark world.
I am not trying to guilt someone into being happy all the time, but to remember you are valuable to yourself and to others and if you are gone your absence can create a black hole of grief.
May this be a gentle reminder to take time for yourself today even if it is getting up early to watch the sunrise or go for a walk, listen to a song, just take the time to do the things that makes you happy even if is for a moment it could save your life and help others along the way.
If you feel like taking your life and feel like you can't talk to anyone close call 988
Remember that you aren't alone and even the happiest people can have dark days.
