How To Prepare for Driveway Paving Before the Crew Arrives
A little planning before your paving crew arrives can make paving day easier for everyone.
Start by asking your paving contractor what needs to be ready. Every driveway is different, but here are a few things to discuss:
✔️ Move vehicles ahead of time. Park somewhere you can reach without crossing the work area.
✔️ Clear personal items. Move planters, toys, trash bins, and other belongings out of the way.
✔️ Plan for deliveries and visitors. Let them know access may be limited.
✔️ Keep children and pets safely away. The crew needs room to operate equipment and handle hot paving materials.
✔️ Point out anything that needs protection. Discuss irrigation lines, gates, landscaping, and any known underground utilities before work begins.
✔️ Ask when you can use the driveway again. Timing depends on the paving material, weather, and project. Follow your contractor’s instructions for walking, driving, and parking.
If your driveway is shared, make sure everyone knows the schedule and access arrangements.
