When students feel at ease, learning comes naturally. That’s why we enjoy the opportunity to prioritize cozy, welcoming spaces where students can gather, sink in and tune into their brains.

From soft seating nooks to collaborative commons, every detail is crafted to support comfort, and community.

Because schools are more than classrooms

What happens when learning and patient care share the same space?

At OHSU’s Psychiatry Education suite, the design brings students, educators, clinicians and patients under one roof, creating more opportunities for connection and collaboration.

At the center is the Learners Hub, an open, shared space designed for the conversations and everyday interactions. Flexible offices and integrated training spaces round out a workplace designed to support both the work happening today and the next generation of psychiatric care.

We'd love to hear about your experience with flexible offices and integrated spaces!

There’s a lot happening above the classrooms at Terra Linda Elementary School in Beaverton, and we’re here for it!

This extensive roof project spanned approximately 68,500 square feet across multiple elevations, bringing together new low-slope roofing, code-compliant insulation, fall protection systems and voluntary seismic upgrades to improve the building’s safety and resilience.

The design also reimagined the existing roof overhang, replacing structural elements to improve safety and functionality while giving the exterior a visual refresh.

It’s the kind of behind-the-scenes work that makes a meaningful difference for years to come. Staff and students may not notice every change, but thoughtful design and a resilient structure shape how they move through their days, interact with the space and experience their school.

Our team recently joined Harry L. Stearns and LightArt for a special gathering focused on lighting, design and innovation.

We dug into integrated lighting systems and got a closer look at LightArt’s latest product development, the Somari Collection.

What a great opportunity to explore new ideas, ask questions and learn more about the sustainable products and solutions shaping the industry!

Imagine a school where learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door. 🌿

With building-as-curriculum, every space - inside and out - becomes an opportunity to explore, discover and grow.

That’s why we love designing schools: places where the environment itself inspires learning.

We're celebrating the rich histories and lasting influence of Hispanic and Latino communities in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Heritage is carried through generations, shaped by family stories, cultural traditions and the experiences of those who came before us. For many, it also carries a story of immigration: leaving home, building a new life and bringing traditions and perspectives that become part of the communities we share.

That legacy can be seen and felt everywhere. Hispanic and Latino voices have shaped our neighborhoods, influenced our culture and contributed to the way our communities continue to grow and evolve.

Together, we celebrate the resilience, cultural pride and enduring contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities and the immigrant journeys that have helped build and strengthen our nation.

Investing in safer, more resilient schools.

We’re supporting Portland Public Schools at Rose City Park Elementary School as part of ongoing seismic retrofit and re-roofing improvements.

Working alongside Holmes Engineering and Windsor Engineers, our team assessed the existing school and documented conditions and recommendations to help strengthen the building’s seismic resilience, roof performance and long-term durability.

This work is an important part of extending the life of existing schools and creating safe, durable learning environments for generations of students and staff.

We appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with Portland Public Schools and our engineering partners on this important work.

For Job Captain Jess Cammarata, her Venezuelan roots have instilled a deep appreciation for family, community and hospitality.

“Those values have influenced the way I think about creating spaces. I want them to feel welcoming, bring people together and create opportunities for connection.”

The different experiences and perspectives each person brings to the design process make our work stronger. They help us think beyond our own experiences and create architecture that better reflects the many people who will ultimately experience and use these spaces.

For Jess, that starts with a simple idea: creating places where people feel welcome.
