Does your bathroom scare you? 👻 Dated tile? Glass block? A layout that makes you wonder what exactly was happening in the ’90s?

And if you've been telling yourself, “We'll tackle it next year,” consider this your Halloween reminder: now is the time to start planning for 2027.
Because the scariest thing might be living with it for another year. 😉

The rooms we love most have a little something unexpected. A color you wouldn't have thought to use. A piece that doesn't quite match. A material that adds just the right amount of tension.

Perfectly coordinated can be beautiful. But a little unexpected? That's what makes a room interesting.

Open concept doesn’t mean one big room. One of the biggest mistakes I see with open-concept floor plans is forgetting to define the individual spaces.

In this home, the entry, living room, and game room all share one large, open area. But each has its own purpose. We used furniture placement, area rugs, lighting, and thoughtful spacing to create distinct zones while keeping everything connected.

The goal isn’t to fill a large room with furniture. It’s to make every part of it feel intentional, comfortable, and functional. Because even without walls, every space deserves a little definition.

W**e Down Wednesday 🍷

Sometimes you have to move the bar to make room for something better.

Before, this entryway wasn't really an entryway at all. It was simply where the homeowners kept their bar cabinet.

We saw an opportunity to create a proper welcome into the home. Wall molding, a substantial wood console, oversized artwork, and a few thoughtful details completely changed the space.

And while I love a good bar, I think this was a pretty good trade.

They didn’t need more storage. They needed better storage.

When we redesigned this primary bathroom, we looked at how our clients actually use the space and where the existing layout wasn’t working for them. We added a storage tower to the vanity, transformed a wall with a window, alcove, and small underutilized closet into dedicated linen storage, and incorporated a niche and bench into the new shower for everyday essentials.

The result? Everything has a place, without sacrificing the clean, calm feeling we wanted for the room. Because sometimes the answer isn’t more square footage. It’s making the square footage you have work harder.

It all starts here.

Before the tile is installed, the plumbing goes in, or the finishing touches are added, there’s the part where we make sure everything plays nicely together. Tile, stone, plumbing finishes, fabric, and all the little details that eventually become a finished space.

✨Plot twist: you don’t always need to rip out the entire kitchen. ✨

Sometimes the smartest renovation decision is knowing what not to replace.
For this kitchen, a full remodel simply didn't make financial sense. Our clients plan to sell in a few years, the existing cabinets were in great condition and they still liked them, and the appliances were fairly new.

So instead, we worked with what was worth keeping. We extended the flooring from the flooring from the rest of the house, updated the countertops, backsplash, lighting, hardware, plumbing fixtures, window treatment, counter stools and paint. The result is a kitchen that feels completely refreshed without over-investing for the neighborhood or the clients' long-term plans.

Good design isn't always about starting over. It's about making the right decisions for the home and the people living in it.

This bar was supposed to look very different. The original plan was to keep the bar itself, but remove the walls and seating area around it so it would feel completely open to the living room.

Then demo happened and we discovered one of the posts was load bearing, and removing it meant adding a structural beam. Our clients decided that wasn't where they wanted to put their renovation dollars, so we went back to the drawing board.

We kept the structure, but removed the arch, lowered the bar to counter height and redesigned the entire area to feel cleaner and much more connected to the rest of the home.

Renovation plans change. The goal is to make sure the finished space doesn't feel like a compromise.

Swipe to see how we got there.
