Stained glass is trending again. Architectural Digest is calling it cathedral core.

If you have a window like this one, the goal is to frame it, not hide it. Here, floor-length pinch pleat drapery hangs high and wide on a black rod, so the panels open fully past the glass. A neutral ivory weave keeps the color in the window where it belongs.

A guest room with an English cottage influence, and a window treatment that knows when to stay quiet.

For this color-drenched space, designer Kait Schneider of flōm chose a flat Roman shade in our Cloud fabric. “Because the fabric is a neutral solid rather than a pattern, its subtle texture and the folds created when the shade is raised add just the right amount of visual interest.”

Three decisions behind the look:

Blackout lining, so guests can rest well at any hour. It also gives the shade more body and structure.

An inside mount, so the shade feels built into the window and the painted trim stays on view.

A flat silhouette, which keeps things tailored while the stack adds gentle softness when raised.

Designed for a feeling, not just an aesthetic.

Studio Boden, a Toronto interior design studio, designed this High Park home for a young family. The goal for the primary bedroom was simple: cozy, serene and restorative, a place for two busy parents to fully unwind.

The clients needed complete blackout for sleep but still wanted softness and privacy during the day. Our answer was two layers of ripplefold drapery. Sheers filter the daylight, which matters in a high-performance home built to let in lots of natural light. Blackout panels close for the night. Both hang from ceiling-mounted tracks, which keep the hardware out of sight and make the room feel taller.

The finishing details: 200% fullness for soft, deep folds and a hem that sits half an inch above the floor for a clean, tailored line.

It quickly became the clients' favorite room in the house. In the designers' words, it's "their calm, their sanctuary."

One open room, no privacy. Here's how we fixed it in an afternoon.

📍Go tone-on-tone with drapery that matches the walls, so the divider looks built-in.
