Would you have covered those leaded glass windows?!?

Come on a in progress journey with me✨

Sometimes we do not need to reinvent the wheel, this layout is virtually the same. Except with absolutely more function. The last designer (who I worked with for years and was such a lovely *now retired* human) really focused more on the aesthetic. But, all of those little wall cabinets everywhere gave very little actual storage for things. So, I made these as large as possible without needing a center style.

Removing that odd and random pantry and bookshelf thing gave the space breathing room, even though it’s so massive, your eye did not know where to go.

I have amazing trades in on this job and I can’t wait to show you the completion!

👻Spooky real life story👻

So, this was my very first time starrynighttheatre and we went in for a lantern ghost story tour. Now, what most people don’t know about me is I am an intuitive that can see and hear spirits. I did not ask for this, it just happened one day and I wasn’t sure what to do about it.

Anywho, we went on this tour and a few things definitely were drawn to me. My plan was never to chime in with what I was seeing and hearing, but they wouldn’t stop talking. The tour guides did confirm everything and I actually had a client on this tour and she had no idea I could do this either.

It is such a sweet little theatre with great shows, be sure you check out their holiday season! And who knows who might show up next to you in the seats!

I have other crazy stories of things that have happened in client homes, let me know if you’d like to hear them!

✨👻🎃Happy Halloween 🎃👻✨

Welcome to a day in the life of your designer!

It started with an architectural design consult and spiraled from there, lol.

Right after that appointment I had to unload a truck, then fly out of there to head to a job site to check on progress and drop off a few parts.

The bonus of this job was I had to drop off a few parts to clients a few floors above, so it was a power move- two birds with one stone or whatever they say, I don’t know.

We chatted about this kitchen, which is a huge deviation from what I normally do in terms of projects. But weirdly, it’s actually more complex since it was a ‘refresh on steroids.’

Then, I headed to the Burchfield to attend a cool lecture about how to be better at your socials.

The day started at 9, got home by 7 but I actually achieved a lot. Not EVERYDAY is like this, but I think it’s really important for clients to understand what it is that we actually do…… and it’s a lot. Way more than you’d think!

Thanks for coming on this adventure with me!

Stepping away from the Monarch Kitchen Design Studio showroom to tour the Kips Bay Decorator Show House in NYC alongside my fellow Interior Design Association of Western New York design friends was such an inspiring reset.

There was something so special and inspiring about walking through a stress free Showhouse (lol, lol) and seeing so many specified top national brands, many of which I curate for my own clients. While I love every detail of residential design, my heart will always belong to custom kitchen and bath design forever ever.

Stepping through so many fresh well-designed spaces from across the country allows me to bring elevated and unique ideas back home with me.

Check out some of the shots I took while I was there-

Honestly, I have always felt like this is supposed to be a portfolio. Perfect, curated, professional- I have so many projects in progress and I never really post them because, well- they aren’t perfect.

But, going forward I will show the process and progress because this is what the process is like!

This old kitchen was for the birds and this family couldn’t live in it how they wanted to, so we knocked down the wall between and created this amazing island.

It took several versions from two islands to a single large. But, I took the direction from the client on this one and it’s really turning out super cool.

There is SO much stone in this kitchen and so much storage too (since there really isn’t much at the walls). Oh, we cheated at the pantry cabinet too!

What do you think?
