At our , the natural surroundings informed every design decision. Strategically positioned to preserve an ancient sycamore tree, the home sits low in the meadow, letting views extend over and beyond the structure as you approach.

Western red cedar siding adds warmth and natural materiality to the exterior, while an expansive living green roof helps the architecture blend seamlessly into its surroundings. Together, these elements create a home that feels less like an addition to the landscape and more like an extension of it.

Moody interiors, rich textures, and a little Hudson Valley magic.

Fall is the perfect excuse for a weekend escape to The Maker in Hudson, NY. An inspired transformation of three historic buildings, this boutique hotel brings together 11 distinctive guest rooms, a restaurant, library, lounge, cocktail bar, and café, all connected by a landscaped courtyard.

As Executive Architect, Mapos collaborated closely with the client team, local artisans, fabricators, and contractors to bring this richly layered vision to life. Every detail celebrates the creative spirit of the Hudson Valley and the art of making.

Peak foliage at South Hill 🍂

There's no better time of year to appreciate the extraordinary landscape surrounding South Hill. With sweeping views of the Catskill Mountains, rolling meadows, and a spectacular canopy of autumn color stretching as far as the eye can see, this is a place where the natural beauty of the land truly takes center stage.

Thoughtfully designed to embrace its surroundings, each site at South Hill offers a rare opportunity to experience the Catskills from an entirely different perspective. And while every season has its magic, autumn might just be our favorite.

Following their partnership on .newburgh, Mapos and Baxter Built teamed up again on a City of Kingston RFP for 615 Broadway and were awarded the project.

The 2.2-acre site sits next to the Ulster Performing Arts Center (UPAC) in Midtown Kingston’s Arts District. Three ground-up buildings surround the new 4,000 SF Pauline Oliveros Deep Listening Plaza, dedicated to the influential Kingston sound artist and lined with 7,000 SF of ground-floor retail.

On Broadway, Building 1 is a three-story grey brick building designed to meet historical guidelines, with a modern interpretation of the brick cornice, window placements, and a new storefront. It fills a gap in Kingston’s historic streetscape, and a wide gated entry beside it leads into the plaza. Buildings 2 and 3, five stories each, sit on the back side of the plaza.

Mapos took the project through planning under Kingston’s new Form Based Code. The development includes 68 apartments, 20% designated affordable.

We're a finalist! has been named a finalist in the 2026 Connecticut Innovation in Design Awards from , in the Architecture category.

The 3,500-square-foot residence is set on a 10-acre ridge overlooking the Appalachian Trail and the Housatonic River valley. The clients envisioned a home with bold cantilevers and a "floating" quality: modern in ex*****on, yet grounded in the texture and warmth of a remote mountain retreat. The result was an "upside-down" house that uses the terrain to organize the program and enhance views.

Thank you to CTC&G and this year's judges.

Last month, Mapos co-founder Colin Brice joined a panel at the Rural Main Street Summit, hosted by the MARK Project in Roxbury, NY, to talk about what it takes to move the Kirkside Project forward.

Bringing the 1857 Gould family mansion back as a community-driven inn and culinary institute touches nearly every issue small towns face: design, town context, approvals, construction pricing, job creation, and the history the building carries. It was a very interesting forum, with preservation officials, municipal leaders, and local partners all working through the same questions.

Thank you to the MARK Project for the invitation and for championing this important and inspiring work in the Catskills!!

Dive into the most innovative bathroom ideas, from the color of the season to looks that increase light or maximize zen. From glass bricks and colored glass to monastic minimalism, these ideas are anything but boring.

In this design featured in 's bathroom trends roundup, the 'Isabella' tiles from are arranged in a precise grid and paired with a white vanity. When choosing a color as bold as this SunnyD-like shade of orange, it can pay to keep everything else simple. 🍊

Two hours north of New York City, on a ridge above the Rondout Reservoir, the first of twenty-two homes we’re building at South Hill is nearly finished.

The house sits low against the ridge, sided in stained cedar and wrapped in a wide deck that opens onto a pool and a pool house positioned to capture the same reservoir-and-mountain views the whole site was planned around.

Nearly move-in ready, it’s the best evidence yet that South Hill’s promise - an alpine retreat and adventure getaway two hours from the city - is becoming a real, livable place.

As an architect-led development team, we’re overseeing the project from land planning through construction, ensuring alignment of design intent, cost control, and build quality at every stage.

We are excited to share that our High Bluff Barn has been named a 2026 SARA National Design Awards Honoree.

A heavy-timber, cedar-clad barn anchoring a narrow bluff-top family compound above Peconic Bay conceals structural insulated panels and a full photovoltaic roof behind its unassuming exterior, housing a garage, projection theater, game room, yoga studio, and mezzanine.

The barn's cedar-clad exterior reads as a simple agrarian form, yet it conceals a high-performance structural insulated panel (SIP) envelope. The southwesterly roof plane, hidden from view at grade, is fully clad in photovoltaic panels. Inside, the entertainment room serves double duty: a daytime play space that converts after dark into a projection theater, with surround-sound speakers and subwoofers integrated into the wall assemblies to keep the acoustic equipment out of sight.
