Sanctuary came to me in a season when the weight of the world felt the heaviest.

It came to me on an early morning walk in my neighborhood. My new goal at that time became cultivating a space where my daughter, Chloe, could be the best version of herself. Challenging me to reimagine how I could support her, not only as her mother but as an interior designer.

The spaces we spend time in carry intense energy, whether we realize it or not. The power to influence our emotions, the power to help us heal, the power to help us connect, the list goes on. By creating sanctuary in our homes, we make it possible to nurture ourselves, and those who mean the most to us. 🩵

There are places that help us slow down enough to hear ourselves again.

For me, it was a quiet morning in the mountains. Writing, listening to the birds sing, and hearing the breeze flow through the trees. That little pocket of sanctuary became a doorway back to the sanctuary that exists within, a piece of calm I could carry with me long after I left.

So many beautiful textures and colors, inspiring humans, time traveling around the world, and of course, Harper lending her expertise wherever needed. 🐾

Recently I’ve been thinking a lot about how we can share the feeling of sanctuary with even more people. A commercial project at the Arthrex Innovation Hotel gave my team and I the perfect opportunity to explore this idea.

Here, a light-filled conference room is washed with greens and teals inspired by Florida’s beautiful landscape. The Carin Pendants by Hubbardton Forge echo the smooth, organic forms of river rocks, while a large live-edge table grounds the space with warmth.

There is just something about nature that brings us back to ourselves. The simplest shapes, textures, and forms found in Mother Earth can make us feel more balanced, connected, and calm. And when we bring those elements into the spaces we inhabit every day, even a conference room can become a place that feels a little more peaceful.

This was a space designed for sharing ideas - and perhaps a little sanctuary too👩🏼‍💻📚
