Everybody's an Expert When You Start Getting Healthy! 😂

Ever notice how everybody has an opinion when you start trying to improve your health?

This week on On the Porch, I'm talking about dealing with criticism, staying focused on your own journey, and why you shouldn't let other people's opinions discourage you.

I'm also sharing updates on my upcoming continuous ketone monitor experiment, a new pumpkin spice recipe, and something close to my heart—helping others who are struggling with addiction.

Find what works for you, stay in your lane, and keep moving forward!

💬 Have you ever had someone criticize the changes you were making to improve your health?

I came across this saying recently, and man, did it hit home!
For years, I was a prisoner to my eating habits. Sugar, processed foods, and all the other junk that helped me work my way up to 403 pounds. I knew those foods weren't doing me any favors, but I kept going back to them anyway.
When I started my keto journey, something amazing happened. I began breaking free from those old habits. The cravings started losing their grip, the weight started coming off, and I began feeling better than I had in years.
Now, over 170 pounds later, I look at some of those foods I used to eat and think about this quote.
Why would I want to go back and hang around the very things that kept me trapped for so long?
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying I've got everything figured out or that I'm never tempted. I'm still on this journey, just like many of you. But I've worked too hard to get out of that prison to willingly walk back into it.
And here's something else I've learned. Just because something used to have control over you doesn't mean it has to control you forever.
Whether you're just getting started or you've been at this for years, remember how far you've come and why you started.
You've worked hard for your freedom. Don't forget what it took to get there.

Hey friends! This week on Blue Collar Cook, I'm sharing some delicious Asian-style keto meatballs inspired by my wife! Sometimes the best recipe ideas come from right here at home, and this one turned out fantastic!

I'm also getting ready for a little experiment with the SiBio Continuous Ketone Monitor. I'm curious to see what actually happens to my ketone levels when I exercise. Will they go up, down, or stay the same? We're going to find out together!

After losing 170 pounds on my keto journey, I'm still learning new things about my body and my health. That's part of what makes this journey so interesting!

Here's a question for you: Have you ever checked your ketone levels before and after exercise? I'd love to hear what you discovered!

CONTENT, NOT COMPLACENT!
One thing I've learned during my 170 lb weight loss journey is that you can be thankful for where you are today while still working toward where you want to be tomorrow.
Don't get so focused on your next goal that you forget to appreciate how far you've already come.
Contentment isn't giving up. It's finding joy in the journey while continuing to move forward!

What are you thankful for on your journey today?
