Our home build is progressing! There’s something special about watching a home go from an idea on paper to a space we’ll actually get to call our own.

Oh how I love this little place
We call home

The trees were one of the first things we fell in love with on this lot.

We knew we could plant new ones, but we’d never see them reach this size in our lifetime. So preserving as many as possible became a huge priority for us. We only had to remove two smaller trees, and even then, we didn’t want to lose that part of the property. We had the wood milled and plan to turn it into furniture, benches, planters, and other pieces for the house.

We love the idea that even the trees we had to remove will still have a place here, and a story to tell.

This home office is designed to feel like part of the home, not an afterthought. Thoughtful details bring function and personality together in a space that feels distinctly its own.

Behind every beautiful project is a whole lot of work behind the scenes. Emails, planning, problem-solving, site visits, samples, revisions, and all the little details that keep everything moving forward.

It may not always be the part you see, but it’s what brings the finished project together. And we wouldn’t have it any other way!

One of the biggest surprises for us while building our dream house? How much the lot itself can change your budget.

Moving our house farther down toward the water would have added at least another $20,000 just in foundation and site work. For us, that money felt much better spent inside the house.

It really comes down to priorities. Do you want the closest possible water view? The old-growth trees? More budget for finishes?

Our biggest advice: talk through the actual lot, foundation options, and house placement with your builder before getting too attached to one idea. A small shift on the site could save you tens of thousands.

This transformation is hard to believe.

In less than a month and half, we refitted this client's grand staircase with custom marble stairs and an elegant banister, all brightly lit by hidden under-tread lighting.

A little mood. A lot of texture.
