A good sale doesn’t always mean a good buy! 🌱💰

Before you stock up on lawn fertilizer, soil amendments, and other lawn care products for next season, take inventory of what you already have.

What worked this year? What’s left over? And what does your lawn actually need?

DIY lawn care doesn’t have to mean buying every product on the shelf. A little planning can save you money and keep your lawn care routine simple.

Shop the plan, not the sale.

Now I’m curious…how much lawn care product did YOU have left over this year? 👀

🌱 Got OLD grass seed sitting in your garage?

Before you toss it or spread it across your lawn, TEST IT!

A simple paper towel germination test can help you:

✅ Check if your grass seed is still viable

✅ Estimate its germination rate

✅ Decide whether it’s worth planting

Works for testing cool-season grass seed, including tall fescue and Kentucky bluegrass. Just remember, germination times vary!

🌱 Kentucky Bluegrass vs. Tall Fescue vs. Perennial Ryegrass!

Three cool-season grass types. Same growing conditions. Different growth habits!

My grass pot experiment is coming along nicely! With daytime temperatures between 65–75°F, all three are growing well, and it was time for a little haircut.

🌱 Kentucky Bluegrass (KBG): Growing slowly, as expected. I’m anticipating that famous “sprout and pout” stage!

🌱 Tall Fescue (TTTF): Looking healthy and growing strong. It’ll be interesting to watch how its texture and growth compare over time.

🌱 Perennial Ryegrass (PRG): Here’s my biggest surprise! The rye feels noticeably softer than the other two. I wasn’t expecting that!

What makes this experiment fun is seeing how these popular cool-season lawn grasses develop side by side.

Same care. Different personalities. 🌱

💬 If you’ve grown all three, which is your favorite and WHY?

2026 tried it. The lawn is making a comeback anyway. 🌱A rough season, some recovery work, and plenty of patience. Sharing the progress because sometimes you need a reminder to keep going.

How did your lawn hold up this year?

LawnIQ: Before you spread it all over your lawn and hope for the best, you can do a simple grass seed germination test at home to get an idea of how much of that seed is still viable.

Storing liquid lawn fertilizers, herbicides, and other lawn care products for winter?

Here’s how I organize mine! I secure the bottles, use a storage bin, and keep everything in a temperature-controlled area.

Always check product labels for storage requirements, especially freezing temperatures. A little winter prep can help prevent damaged products, leaks, and expensive mistakes!

Is it too late to apply winterizer fertilizer to your cool-season lawn? Timing matters more than the calendar! Late-fall nitrogen applications are most useful while grass can still take up nutrients, before the soil freezes.

Once your lawn is fully dormant, the benefits become less predictable. Don’t force one last feeding just because winter is coming!
