Chapter 2: rough-in complete.

At the Sandy Springs master bath, plumbing and electrical are finished —
twin shower valves set into the new framed wall, drains stubbed, boxes
placed. This is the work that disappears behind the tile and drywall,
and it's the work that has to be exactly right.

Next: waterproofing, then the walls close up. Follow along.

Chapter 6: the details.

At the Mount Vernon kitchen, the solid stone backsplash is in — full slabs, counter to cabinet, no grout lines to scrub. The in-cabinet LED lighting is live, and the hidden passthrough to the pantry is taking shape behind that lit glass cabinet.

Chapter 1: the before — and the tear-out.

New project: the Sandy Springs master bath. Corner shower, soaking tub under a big window, double vanity — the bathroom had good bones, but it was time. So down to the studs it went: damaged subfloor torn out, and now the rebuild is underway — new framing going up for the tub, the shower, and an arched ceiling.

The tile looked perfectly fine, but the waterproofing underneath had failed and the subfloor was rotting — this is what a shower built wrong hides for years.

Chapter 5: the countertops.

The Mount Vernon kitchen has its stone in — a bright veined island with prep sink, double islands, and the farmhouse sink, all set against the deep charcoal bar and fireplace cabinets that were refinished yesterday. Brass hardware everywhere.

Thankful to have been part of this great basement remodel on a beautiful horse farm. We stepped in after water damage occurred, opening up the kitchen while also updating the gym floor and fireplace.
