Is your home ready for winter? ❄️ Before the temperature drops, walk your property and check for:
✔️ Drafts around windows & doors
✔️ Storm doors in place and sealed
✔️ Worn or missing weatherstripping
✔️ Loose or damaged shingles
✔️ Clogged gutters and downspouts

A little prep now can save you from bigger (and more expensive) problems this winter. Need help with any of it? We've got you covered.

Across the Potomac from Mount Vernon, we built a pool and pool house designed to look like a barn, so it blends with the historic landscape and meets the local historical society's guidelines.

Soon after we broke ground, the dig was paused to uncover artifacts from colonial times and from the Indigenous people who lived on this land long before. It added time to the schedule, but it was a privilege to be part of that discovery.

The finished structure had to look historic while needing almost no maintenance:
✅ Cedar and copper roofing that will weather beautifully over time
✅ Custom-milled ipe tongue-and-groove siding, one of the most durable woods available
✅ Stepping stones around the pool instead of solid decking, to stay within the property's impervious surface limits

This one took patience through a long design phase and a careful excavation, and we're proud of how it turned out.

"We had a our basement finished by John Krause Construction. The experience was great working with the project manager Joe and we would work with him again in the future. He took time to always listen to us, offer his thoughts, and followed up on anything he couldn't answer in the moment. The team that worked with Joe was great as well and they had very high attention to detail. We do not feel that we were skimped on any aspects of the job and would hire them again for any future renovations we may have." - Ryan B, Basement Finishing ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
