Live Edge Exclusives Design and production of live edge furniture and décor pieces for the home or cabin Andy has been working with live edge for a little over three years.

There are lots of different style options available for your wood furniture and accent pieces. Live Edge Exclusives specialize in the use of live edge material (slabs) that highlights the natural shapes, grain and colors of hardwoods. The use of epoxy adds contemporary design and color features for a more modern vibe that will be a focal point of your home or cabin for decades. The options associated with live edge pieces are nearly endless with each piece being truly "one of a kind." It started with two oak floating desks, then two live edge outdoor bar tops and five drink-rail tops. After relocating to Locust, North Carolina in 2022, the blank canvas of a new house reignited the love affair with live edge through the production of seven floating shelves, a 7' x 36" floating desk, and a 12' foot floating walnut countertop serving as craft and homework space for our young daughters. Andy also developed unique processes to create antler mounts, fly tying desks and wall art. Then the family and friends started asking for serving/cutting boards, desks and dining room tables which has led to the establishment of Live Edge Exclusives in 2023. Live Edge Exclusives is based in Locust, North Carolina and the shop is co-located with JPRO, a well known supplier of kiln dried, live edge walnut, oak, maple and a variety of other species. This relationship means, in most cases, the customer can select their own affordable slabs for any of project from wall art and serving boards to 12'+ long dining room tables or conference tables.

Live Edge Exclusives - Our Process
1. Define the Vision & the Limits

I’ll build almost anything you can dream up, but it’s important to have a real conversation about what that looks like in your space and in the shop.

We’ll discuss the logistics, constraints, and small details you may not have considered: like how clear epoxy work takes significantly more time and precision, which affects the price. Or how a massive table, like 4 feet wide by 20 feet long, will require special handling, reinforcement, and possibly even structural considerations in your home.

This is also where we talk about how involved you want to be in the build. If you’re hands-on, I welcome you to participate in steps like mold building, epoxy pours, or even sanding. That’s a rare offering — and one I love sharing with engaged clients.
2. Visit the Shop (Optional, but Encouraged)

The best way to connect with your future piece is to see the materials in person. I share a space with one of the region’s most respected sources of kiln-dried, live edge walnut, oak, maple, and more. You’re welcome to come browse slabs, compare species, and learn how different cuts and finishes affect the final look.

This is also where we discuss options like epoxy colors, leg styles, and finishes. Once slabs are chosen, I’ll create an initial estimate — which can be adjusted as we refine the design together.

3. Design Approval & Estimate

Once we’ve locked in the design, materials, and scope, I’ll provide a final rendering and estimate. This is our official agreement on timeline, cost, and expectations.

A deposit invoice will be sent via QuickBooks. Once payment is received, your build is officially scheduled.

4. The Build Begins

Builds are scheduled in the order deposits are received. Typically, builds start within 4–6 weeks and take 4–10 weeks depending on scope.

If you’ve chosen to be involved, we’ll schedule shop visits during key milestones. Otherwise, I’ll keep you in the loop with regular progress updates via text, email, or photos. Once the final finish is applied, we’ll schedule delivery — no sooner than 7 days later, to allow for proper curing.

5. Delivery Day

I personally deliver each piece. I’ll set it in place, ensure everything is perfect, and walk you through how to care for it.

I only deliver pieces I’m proud of — if I don’t love it, it doesn’t leave the shop.

6. A Lifetime Guarantee

Every piece from Live Edge Exclusives comes with a lifetime guarantee that extends to your heirs, for as long as the company is in operation.

This warranty covers any issue related to the craftsmanship or structural integrity of the piece. That includes things like joinery failures, epoxy separation, or finish problems caused during production.

It does not cover normal wear and tear, such as scratches, dents, or surface dulling from everyday use. However, many of these issues can still be repaired if needed, often by bringing the piece back to the shop.

The goal is for every piece to stand the test of time. If something goes wrong because of how it was made, it will be made right. Live Edge Exclusives

Live Edge Exclusives - Created by Nature . Refined by Hand. Life moves fast. Families need a place to slow down and connect. My tables are built to anchor your home, your family and your guests for generations. You choose everything: wood species, layout, base style and color. It’s designed by you, for you, not stamped out in an overseas factory, and you’re welcome to come in and pour your own epoxy. I’ll send photos and updates along the way, then deliver and set up the table myself. The result is a room people want to gather in, not just a box checked on a furniture list

I repurposed a table originally made for different commercial client that sadly went out of business. Yet, this sycamore table has found its forever home at the Maggie Valley Fly Shop . This is shop is very special to me not because of the "stuff" that is in it, but because of the people that stand it up every single morning. It's just a special place because of love, support and river therapy I have received from motley crew and now it has an awesome table where folks can go to tie flies, lie and tie more flies. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that?! Oh, you can buy stuff and book a guided trip too...lunch gets tricky though, usually because you are too busy catching and not just fishing!

I just finished the fine sanding process on this sycamore river table and it's about to roll into the finish room. I'm going to apply 2K polyurethane or, as I commonly refer to it, my "6 toddlers with match box cars and grape juice" finish. This finish was designed to withstand nail polish remover, so a few fly tyers shouldn't be a problem.

This was originally the Buzzed Viking table, but since both the Locust and Concord locations have gone out of business, I repurposed the piece for another commercial client. I had a little help from for the embedded prints and they worked out amazingly well, none of the colors bled or became dull during the expoxy pour and cure process, which impressed me.

Stay tuned next week for the finished, in situ photos of this table's new habitat...sorry, the ecologist in me couldn't resist. The 9ft x 4 ft maple table behind it won't be ready for another couple of weeks, but it is going to be a stunner especially once the bar height base is attached.
