Our season has officially come to a close!

Even though our public sales ended a while ago, we’ve spent the last few weeks of warm weather continuing to sell leftovers to some of our larger and wholesale clients (and getting some personal plantings done as well!) and are proud to report that our greenhouses are now completely empty!

Thank you so much to all of our amazing customers and supporters for making 2026 another absolutely incredible year for native plants, pollinators, and the environment!

Whether you shopped online or in-person, during the Spring, Fall, or Summer pop-ups, in the extreme heat or the pouring rain (or all of the above!), we sincerely wouldn't be here without you all!

Your continued loyalty and support of our vision and work and your undying passion and devotion for protecting the natural world around us is truly inspirational and confirms to us each and every week that something genuinely special is going on in our community!

We wish you all a fantastic Fall and wonderful Winter and we can’t wait to see you again next Spring when we kick off 10 years of bringing Nature back home!

Worried about the potential for frost tonight? Don’t be! They have all of our plants currently indoors and with the sun coming back out tomorrow and plenty of continued warmth in the forecast through the rest of the month, Fall planting is definitely still underway!

Fun fact: Many native plants will actually put on a growth spurt after they get nipped by the first frost of the season! They love it!

On this Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we acknowledge and honor those who first cared for the land we call home today.

The land we live on, work on, the land we farm, the land we set aside for recreation, for entertainment, for leisure, and everything in between, is not just another commodity to be bought and sold, hoarded and harvested, or poached and stolen. We have forgotten the wisdom that the indigenous peoples of the Americas learned millennia ago and are continuously pleading with us to remember today: land is life. And like life, land is meant to be shared, not only amongst humans, but with the plants and animals, insects and fungi, water and soil, and everything else that discovered the true meaning of success long before we decided it simply meant anyplace where profits could be made.

Today we are reminded of what land truly provides for us - food, water, shelter, family, and spirit - and we recognize and celebrate the original stewards of this land and stand behind their descendants that continue to be disenfranchised and whose voices and viewpoints are too often overlooked and excluded within our communities. We vow to respect and appreciate their cultures and carry on their legacies by doing everything that we can to protect and restore this land that we currently, and very briefly, find under our feet, so that it can continue to support life in all forms for generations to come.

Is October too late to plant? Absolutely not!

Fall is a fantastic time to plant perennials and after plenty of fresh rain this week, the forecast ahead shows nothing but sunny skies and the gorgeous Autumn weather we’ve all been waiting for!

Newly installed native plants need just a few weeks of time in the ground to root down well enough to hold their own and with not even a hint of a frost or freeze through at least the middle of the month, that means that Fall planting season is truly just now hitting its peak!

Why plant in the Fall? As the days get shorter and the air temperatures begin to cool down, native-Nebraska plants naturally transition into deep root production and energy storage and will continue to develop their extensive root systems all the way until the ground freezes (which is typically around Thanksgiving here in eastern Nebraska)! On top of that, reduced pressure from weeds and pests and less competition from surrounding plants combine to provide some of the most optimal growing conditions of the entire year! All together, these factors create the perfect opportunity for the strong and rapid establishment of freshly planted natives before Winter sets in, meaning there is definitely no better way to get a jump start on next year’s blooms than by adding some magnificent and critically important pollinator plants to your landscape now!

Our final public sale of 2026 is this Saturday, October 3rd from 10AM to 4PM and EVERYTHING MUST GO, so make the most of what Fall planting has to offer and come join us in the greenhouse for the last chance of the year to shop the largest selection of native perennial wildflowers and grasses in Nebraska, grown locally and pesticide-free right here in Lincoln!

4200 South 1st Street, Lincoln, NE 68502
