Wellnitz Tree Care

Skyler talked trees to two groups of preschoolers yesterday. He taught them some college level words, tree biology, and how to climb a tree.

HELP FIND OUR STOLEN WELLNITZ TREE CARE TRUCK!

Early this morning, someone broke into our Topeka lot on Lakewood Boulevard, stole a truck and equipment, and crashed our gate on the way out.

Apparently, opening a gate exceeded the qualifications for this particular criminal enterprise.

STOLEN TRUCK:
2016 Ford F-350 dually
License plate: 693101

Oh, I almost forgot to mention: this truck has our name plastered all over it. Somehow, all these Flock cameras have not managed to track it down, so we need your help! These people are driving a giant freaking Wellnitz Tree Care billboard.

We appreciate people taking an interest in tree care, but stealing the truck is a terrible way to apply. No interview. No references. Absolutely bombed the driving test.

This truck and equipment help our crew earn a living and serve our customers. Someone decided their morning should start by making everyone else’s harder. We’d appreciate the community’s help getting our property back and identifying whoever was involved.

If you spot the truck, have relevant security footage, or see suspicious listings for Wellnitz equipment, please contact the Topeka Police Department. Share the location, time, and any photos you can safely take. Please don’t approach or confront anyone.

If you live or work near Lakewood Boulevard, please check your cameras from around 4:45 this morning.

SHARE THIS POST. Someone knows something, and we’d love for this person’s next ride to come with a partition and doors that only open from the outside.

I'll post some videos in the comments.

Tree cabling and bracing can reduce risk, but they are not permanent fixes. Learn when they make sense, what ANSI A300 requires, and when removal is better.

On Wednesday Rylee, Christian, Myself, and my wife Liz got to represent the Wellnitz gang at Saluting Branches' annual day of service. Saluting Branches is a nationwide non profit where arborists across the country band together and volunteer their services, donating millions of dollars worth of tree care to national cemeteries across the country as well as in Puerto Rico and Mexico. I've been honored to volunteer up in Leavenworth every year since I believe 2014.(*minus the Covid year).
This year the original date was rained out and the makeup date was still very soggy so most of the trees were climbed rather than utilizing the equipment. The smaller group and limited equipment seemed to make for a quieter, more intimate environment. I cherish this event and the comradery it builds across tree care companies as well as segments in the arboricultural industry.
This year was particularly meaningful to me as both my grandpa and my great uncle underwent the honors of being buried there this year, they're directly adjacent to a couple of trees Liz and I worked on last year. Once the work was done I took some time to go visit their gravesites. Thank you to all who have served as well as all those who work behind the scenes each year to ensure this event is a success.

I found it in an oak tree so it's probably a Polyphemus moth caterpillar p**p.
