Inspiration > Design Scheme > Installation | Part I
It's hard to explain inspiration... but our projects almost always start with a feeling --a mood, an emotion-- which we find with our client. Not so easy to articulate, but that's the job!
In the process of creating a warm, cosmopolitan, artful, elegant-while-relaxed, soothing bedroom with and for our client: She is elegant, fierce, warm, sophisticated, dazzling, and always lovely.

Cozy.
Inviting.

Two words our clients used, nearly a year ago, when asked which emotions or feelings they wanted this family room to evoke, after we finished the project. These words became our North Star, as we collaborated to re-purpose and soften what had been a cavernous yet underused addition to the kitchen of an historic 1930s addition. After the install, the clients sent me a photo of the room, with 2 of their kids hanging out, feet up, books in hand, headphones on, the dog at their feet.
Along with a note, using exclamation points: "Look! They're using the room!!" 🤩
STUDIOBARON Design, we often start the design process with our clients not with drawings or dimensions, but at an emotional place. Because we are all drawn to spaces that feel good.

A true star of the show-- beautiful Palazzo Daniele near Leuca. Southern tip of the heel of Italy's boot, where the Ionian sea meets the Aegean. Palace from 1862. Feels like you are visiting a friend for the weekend, rather than staying in a hotel.

I have the best clients! Am so lucky... while creating an outdoor design scheme, I get to spend time in this stellar garden, buzzing with life, full of native pollinator plantings, sounds of local birds and flutters of butterflies.
We have to create, celebrate and support good native gardens-- restorative spaces are antidotes to our crazy, uncertain world. Thank you for all you do for our community: .marin.
