Architectural designer and NOMAKC board member, Chloe Devecsery, had the opportunity to represent our firm at the annual NOMA (National Organization of Minority Architects) Conference held in Miami, Florida! For over five decades, NOMA has convened to celebrate excellence, challenge the status quo, and build the infrastructure for a more just profession.

Peace out, Caroline! ✌️
Our marketing intern is heading back to Northwestern University for her senior year studying journalism, and we’re so glad she spent time with SFS! From collateral and templates to project narratives, Caroline brought a keen design eye, editorial skills and attention to detail to everything she tackled, and was so fun to work with.
Thanks for all your hard work, Caroline! Wishing you a fantastic senior year and exciting adventures ahead. Come back and visit us anytime! 🧡

A little friendly competition, a lot of laughs, and plenty of time spent together outside the office!

Our SFS family came together at the Puttery on the Plaza for an afternoon of all-you-can-play mini golf, light bites, drinks, and some friendly competition. It was a great opportunity to bring employees, friends, and families together, enjoy each other’s company, and make memories beyond the workplace.

We’re grateful for the people who make SFS such a fun place to be - on and off the clock! ⛳✨

We were thrilled to welcome students from Kansas City’s .inc to our office last month for a day of exploring architecture, design, and the many possibilities of a career in the built environment! The highlight of the day was a hands-on park design exercise, where students sketched their ideas and identified the amenities they believe are important in creating a welcoming, engaging community space!💡

Thank you to the I AM Foundation for allowing us to be part of such a meaningful experience!

SFS is honored to be featured in the latest season of America ByDesign TV, a CBS series that celebrates creativity, diversity, and the endless possibilities of human ingenuity. Check out Season 7, Episode 1: Design for Living Well, which features City of Overland Park's Fire Station 41 and SFS Principal, Kwame Smith, AIA.

Overland Park Fire Department’s flagship facility was completed in 2024. It is a 16,000 square foot, four-bay, three-company station that exemplifies the department’s commitment to community safety, the health and well-being of its first responders, and the application of renewable energy in public buildings. The design manages exposure to harmful substances through careful organization, prioritizing occupational health with strict contamination control measures.
