Trumpet Vine isn’t exactly subtle. In shades of orange to red, it brings a tropical vibe to summer gardens and attracts hummingbirds looking for their next nectar stop.

Give it a sturdy trellis or fence and it can cover a space with foliage and flowers. It’s tough, heat-loving, and happy in full sun.

One thing to know before planting: Trumpet Vine is a vigorous grower that can spread by underground runners, so give it room and keep an eye on where it pops up. It’s gorgeous, but it doesn’t always understand the meaning of personal space. 😂

Pennisetum alopecuroides ‘Little Bunny’ is ridiculously cute. 🐰🌾 This compact fountain grass has soft, fluffy flower plumes that pop up above tidy mounds of green foliage in late summer and fall.

Those bottlebrush blooms catch the light, sway in the breeze, and add a little movement to the garden when many perennials are winding down.

With its petite size, ‘Little Bunny’ is perfect for edging a walkway, tucking into a sunny border, or adding texture to containers without taking over the whole show. It brings that wild-grass look, just on a much more manageable scale.

Plant it somewhere sunny, give it well-drained soil, and let those fluffy plumes do their thing. ✨

Pinus nigra, or Austrian Pine, is a hardworking evergreen with long needles and spreading branches. When young, it has a classic pyramidal shape. As it matures, that broad crown develops a flatter top, giving the tree a whole new look.

And this isn’t an evergreen that needs everything to be just right. Heat? Fine. Drought? Once established, it’s on board. Clay soil, alkaline soil, even coastal conditions? Austrian Pine can handle those, too.

Give it room to grow and it can become a striking focal point, a dependable windbreak, or a year-round privacy screen. Feeling artistic? It’s also a favorite for bonsai and sculpted forms.
