Sharing a primary closet doesn’t have to mean compromising on function.

At our Memorial project, we made room for both with dedicated storage, a hardworking island, an illuminated handbag cabinet, and a makeup vanity. Space for stacked laundry adds everyday convenience, while luggage niches put the closet’s full height to use.

Small spaces can still have a strong architectural presence.

Located just off the game room, this powder bath is a great example of how architecture can create the framework for a memorable interior. Its placement, proportions and natural light establish the room, while the interior design gives that framework an entirely distinct character.

One of our favorite things about collaboration is seeing how the architecture and interiors ultimately come together.

Turn the sound on for this view.

From the second-floor balcony of this Spanish modern home in Houston, Mark shares one of the first ideas behind the design: a central courtyard that the rooms surround and open onto.

The sound of water carries through the house, while the mostly shaded courtyard offers a place to sit and enjoy the outdoors. We look forward to sharing another look as the landscaping and furnishings come together.

More than a golf simulator.

Tucked down a short hall from the great room, this space was planned to flex between games, golf and movie nights while maintaining a direct visual connection to the pool and outdoor entertaining areas.

Planning for flexibility allowed this room to become more than a single-purpose space, with its location also keeping it connected to the pool, outdoor entertaining and the main living areas of the home.

A primary suite is really a floor plan within the floor plan.

Here, a vestibule creates a transition into the suite, with a private office in one direction and the bedroom in the other. From the bedroom, the primary bath can be accessed from either side of the bed, a planning detail Mark has incorporated into his work for years to give each homeowner a direct and intuitive path into the bath.

Small circulation decisions can have an outsized impact on how comfortably a home lives.
