Today we had the pleasure of visiting riceuniversity Fondren Library seed library! If you’re like us and you love native plants and collecting and sharing seeds, be sure to check it out and show some support.

Yes, it’s OPEN to the public! Thank you so much Hannah for inviting us out and we are so excited to see what it grows into.

They’ve already had approximately 3,000 seed checkouts!

Take a packet, Leave a Packet!✨🌱

Zygocactus, also known as Schlumbergera or Holiday Cactus are a favorite to decorate your home with around the holidays! Their blooms come a variety of colors including red, white, pink, and more! They are an epiphytic cacti native to Brazilian cloud forests. Unlike desert cacti, they prefer filtered light, cool temperatures, and rich but free-draining soils. Use a free-draining blend. An orchid or cactus mix with added perlite or bark works best for them.

Cooler nights and shorter days trigger flower buds—avoid bright lights at night in autumn. Once buds appear, try not to move the plant to prevent bud drop!
