If you screw it up, you’re in big trouble 😬

On the Smith Project, we’re working through the basement plumbing to accommodate some changes the client wanted, turning what was originally planned as a simple toilet into a full bathroom and dog wash.

It’s a great example of why we spend so much time thinking through the details before anything gets covered up. Once the plumbing is in, you want to know it’s right.

There are some parts of a build where you really only get one shot to get it right 🚰

On this project, we had to run all of the plumbing underneath a raised three-foot slab foundation, which was a first for me. That makes checking every line, connection, and detail before the concrete goes down especially important

It’s one of those parts of the build that you may never see, but getting it right is crucial.

Building at the beach sounds pretty great, until you realize how little space you actually have to build in 😅

On these projects, site space is tight, so timing and coordination become a huge part of the job. We have to make sure materials arrive when they’re needed, work is finished in the right order, and everything keeps moving without getting in the way of the next step.

Ferry Street sits right near the water, with a deck that makes it easy to step outside and take it all in. We kept the exterior simple and inviting, letting the setting and those coastal views really shine.

Dormers are one of those parts of a project that are really cool to build, but they can also be tricky to get right 🌧️

Getting everything properly sealed and weather-tight is critical, because the last thing you want is to have a beautiful dormer that becomes a problem the next time it rains.

It’s not always the most noticeable part of the build, but it’s exactly the kind of detail we pay close attention to.

When you’re building with a panelized system, the work starts long before the panels ever arrive 🧰

There’s a lot that has to be coordinated ahead of time, but when it’s done right, the speed of the build is pretty incredible.

We’re always looking for better ways to build, and this is a pretty impressive one 🙌

For our Martha’s Vineyard project, we’re working with and their One Precision Assembly system. The speed, precision, and level of coordination that goes into these assemblies can make a huge difference once we’re on site, and seeing it come together in real time is pretty cool.

Ever wonder why 85 Orange Street has two front doors? 🚪

There’s a pretty great story behind it. The original owner, Captain Joseph Congdon, ran a dry goods store out of the home, and that second door on the right was the original entrance to the shop.

Stories like this are what make Nantucket homes so special. When we work on historic properties, we want to preserve the character and integrity that make them unique while giving them a new chapter, and hopefully leaving plenty of room for more stories and memories to come.
