🐾🐈 Happy National Cat Day! 🐈🐾

I couldn’t let today pass without showing off a few members of the Hackney Rd crew! After all, they deserve a little recognition… even if I’m still trying to figure out exactly what they do around here! 😂❤️

I have to give a special shoutout to JoJo, our official Hackney Rd production supervisor 🐱💕 She’s got a pretty important job around here.

Unfortunately, her fellow feline employees have a MUCH different work ethic. As you can see from the pictures, they’re pretty much useless when it comes to productivity. Sleeping on the clock, taking extended breaks, and absolutely ZERO motivation to contribute! 😂😹. Good help is hard to find these days!

Now I want to see YOUR furry freeloaders!
📸 Flood the comments with pictures of your cats! 🐈‍⬛

🐴 HACKNEY HAPPENINGS: Well, Now Ya Know!
Edition 6.

What’s in a Name?

Ever wonder where the name Hackney Rd Craft & Candle Co. came from?

Well, here’s a little history lesson AND a little piece of my life!

My parents moved to our family horse farm in July of 1978, just TWO weeks before I was born. So quite literally, this farm has been home my entire life. 🐴❤️

Back then, our address was simply Rt. 1, Box 222, and the road was known as County Road 32. When the 911 addressing system came along and roads needed actual names, Hackney Road was born!

I grew up on this farm, surrounded by horses, and spent my childhood riding, training, and making memories.

Eventually, I moved away for college and life took me in other directions. But in 2010, when my parents built a new house on the property, I moved into the original farmhouse.

And, well… the rest is history!

When I started this little business 9 years ago, choosing a name that connected it to the place that’s always been home just made sense. And of course, with horses being such a huge part of my life, the horse in my logo was a given!

So no, Hackney Rd isn’t some fancy, made-up business name. It’s a real road, a real place, and a whole lot of my history. 48 years of memories, all wrapped up in one little road name. ❤️

And now you know a little more about the person and place behind Hackney Rd Craft & Candle Co.!

Well, Now Ya Know! 🐴

This morning was all about meeting customers, and my heart is full! ❤️

I got to meet up with some new customers to deliver their custom hand-burned hats! 🤠This is one of them, but the other is a Christmas gift, so that one has to stay a secret for now! 🤫🎄 I also had the pleasure of meeting another customer in person for the very first time!

Y’all, I LOVE these moments. ❤️

As much as I love creating, I’m also my own worst critic. I second-guess myself, pick apart the little details, and wonder if someone is actually going to love what I’ve made. And I know I’m not alone in that. I think so many of us are harder on ourselves than anyone else could ever be.

But then I have mornings like today. I get to meet the people who support my little business, see their reactions, and actually HEAR how much they love what I’ve created. And it means more to me than they’ll probably ever realize.

Sometimes we just need that little reminder that what we do matters, that our creativity is appreciated, and that maybe we should give ourselves a little more credit. 🥹

To everyone who has trusted me to create something special for them, thank you. Truly. You’re supporting so much more than just a small business. You’re giving this overly self-critical maker a little more confidence with every order. ❤️

🕯️ What a GREAT night!! 🕯️

A HUGE thank you to everyone who attended my very first candle making class last night at the Washington County Career Center Adult Technical Center! ❤️

I was nervous going into it, but everything went so well, and I couldn’t have asked for a better group!

Everyone created some absolutely AMAZING smelling candles! I hope you all had as much fun as I did! Thank you for spending your evening with me, supporting my little business, and making my first class such a success!

My second class is already scheduled for November 19th. Call the WCCC to register! 🕯️✨

🎃🕯️ ’Twas the Night Before My First Candle Making Class…

’Twas the night before class, and all through the house,
I was nervous and anxious, but quiet as a mouse.

The supplies were all packed, the plans in my head,
While visions of candle wax kept me awake in bed.

I’ve never taught a class, public speaking’s not my thing,
And who knows what kind of chaos tomorrow might bring!

I’ve planned and I’ve prepped, and I hope it all goes right,
That everyone has fun and enjoys their night!

So here’s to new adventures, and stepping outside my zone,
Just hoping I don’t embarrass myself in front of a room full of people I don’t know! 😂🕯️

🍂🎶 It’s BANDTOBER, y’all! 🎶🍂

If you’re wondering why you won’t see us set up at any local shows this weekend, well… marching band season is in FULL swing! 🥁🎺

Our son is in the Fort Frye marching band, and tomorrow we have not one, but TWO competitions! That means 15+ hours on the road, sitting on bleachers, cheering our hearts out, and probably surviving on concession stand food and caffeine. 😂

As much as I love my business, these are the moments I refuse to miss. ❤️

BUT DON’T WORRY! You can still get your Hackney Rd fix this weekend! 🛍️

🍁 Heading to Heritage Day in McConnelsville? Stop by Town Square Collectibles! Our booth is packed FULL of all your favorite goodies!

🍻 Checking out Oktoberfest at Wilky's Market in Marietta? You’ll find our goodies stocked there, too!

So while I’m trading my vendor tent for stadium bleachers this weekend, our products are still out there waiting for you!

Shop small, support local, and wish us luck surviving BANDTOBER! 🎶🖤

Hackney Happenings……✨ WELL, NOW YA KNOW! ✨

Edition 5

Ever heard of metallic abrasion? ⛓️ Here’s a little jewelry knowledge about what it is and how it can affect your permanent jewelry!

10/07/2026

What a busy weekend at Lowell Octoberfest!
🤍

I didn’t get nearly as many pictures as I should have, but I did manage to snag these two beauties.

I’m kind of obsessed with this unique little combo of “Mama” + the cowboy hat 🤠 — so cute and just a little western.

And that black chain with the Navajo pearl connector?! 🖤 Absolutely LOVE how these turned out.

I seriously love seeing all the different combinations you guys come up with!
