Orange is having a moment this week and in this the nook, and I’m not mad about it. 🧡

Halloween is one of my favorite weeks of the year. I love the nostalgia, the creativity everyone brings out every year, and the kids dumping their candy haul across the table to sort and trade. The late bedtimes and the whole neighborhood out together make it better.

A good dining nook should be designed for the life that happens around it.

Let the light in. Here, the light is part of the design. Clerestory windows welcome the California sun, drenching the living space in warmth.

For the living room wall, we wanted something unique, and special: a fluted detail in painted wood panels, running the full length of the space. It adds depth and rhythm. Below it, a fireplace carved in marble with curved details adding in a softness.

We continued to play with the lighting in this space from ALLIED MAKER We explored lighting lines we don’t typically use because we wanted something truly spectacular, and landed on a modern Sputnik chandelier that anchors the room. Sconces on either side of the fireplace add another layer of warmth.

Modern. Clean lines. Warm wood tones. Light. 🤍
