After a much-needed break last week, we’re back to our regularly scheduled program. I really let content slide and focused only on the essentials, like client needs and laundry. On top of losing Rigby, Jamin tore his meniscus the very next day, and I just didn’t have it in me for the rest of the week. When I got back to scheduling yesterday morning, I realized ’tis the season, and it’s time to hit the ground running. It was a much-needed mental break, and I think we’re all feeling a little better around here.

We received a great question from Cheryl, who said, “Looking for a clever solution for creating a good entryway space that works hard for our family. Today is an important day at our house. These girls are twelve! And since it’s not every day that your dog turns twelve, let alone littermates, we thought we’d have a little celebration of sorts. Of course we gave them crowns and set up the mantel to decorate, even though they have absolutely no idea what’s going on. They just wanted their pup cups. 

These days, they’re living their best lives in retirement with whimzees and walks and naps and of course, lots of snuggles. Furry friends truly enhance your life in the most magical of ways. We’re grateful for every moment we have with them because we know time is a thief.

Did you guys hear that blogging is back? I feel like this is something the ‘OGs’ {dinosaurs?} like me will share because it sounds exciting. For me, it never really went away, so the entire concept feels a little strange. I’ve been here, trudging along in the background all these years while running our business locally, but what I shared definitely shifted. I lost a little of that original spark in the nuances of everyday life.

Just as interiors are seeing a return to a love of vintage finds with meaning, I think people are generally A.I.- and social media-fatigued by falsely inflated vanity numbers and are searching for authenticity. Honestly? I long for the days of simple connection, when I didn’t feel like I had to dance in front of a screen, and I know I’m not the only one.

Personally, I’m in a weird place in life: happily embracing the season while adjusting to the nuances of being an almost-empty nester, finding a shift in what I enjoy… and I’m ready to write again. I crave it. We’ve had quite a few pivots in the past year, and between a few mild health struggles and some big life changes, I’ve spent a lot of time mourning the nostalgia of a beautiful life season for us. I’m crawling out of the other side to find a new version of my life I actually kind of like, and embrace the present. It feels like dusting off the cobwebs and settling in next to an old friend.

I think it starts with sharing the little things. I’m here with this new little occasional series. I’ve found what’s always true: life is in the happy little sparks along the way. A few life updates and some of my current faves: here are a few things I’m loving, from the silly to the important. Happy Little Sparks.
