The Lowdown, Ep. 01: what designers know about rug size that most people don't.
Your rug is probably too small. (Sorry.)
The rule: in a living room, at least the front legs of every seat should sit on the rug. That's what makes the furniture look like it belongs together instead of floating around a postage stamp.
Most of the time that means 8x10ft or 9x12ft, not 5x8ft. In a dining room, give it about 24 inches past the table on every side so chairs don't catch the edge when you pull them out.
And since every Shine Rug is made to order, you don't have to pick "close enough." We make it the exact size your room needs.
