Infinite dots dance across luminous sky.

Tuesday is spin-around day: Buds by the Billions turned full circle, so you can follow the waves of dots and the undulating rim all the way around.

A constellation of color spreads across pristine cream in rhythmic waves of hand-applied dots. Warm yellows and oranges radiate from concentrated centers while cool blues and reds establish counterpoints across the surface. The pattern suggests both celestial movement and organic growth—pointillist energy frozen in ceramic form. Black calligraphic gestures punctuate the composition with spontaneous grace, while the dramatically undulating rim creates a crown of sculptural motion. At ten inches high, the work commands attention through its bold scale and the mesmerizing density of its surface treatment.

This work belongs to the JeanElton TallVase Collection, characterized by its substantial vertical presence and dramatically sculptured rim that moves in organic waves around the vessel's opening. The undulating edge creates ever-changing silhouettes as one moves around the piece, while the substantial height provides an expansive canvas for the intricate dotted surface treatment.

The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.

This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalog reference.

Jeweled band encircles pristine cream.

Thursday is behind-the-scenes day: Luna takes two paths through our store’s filters, by the space and by the look. Both lead to Aurora Band II.

A single horizontal band of intricate pattern commands the center of this pure cream form, creating a striking visual pause around the vessel's gentle curves. The decorative strip reads like ancient mosaic work or precious inlay—fine geometric shapes in deep burgundy, rich teal, warm amber, and black create a rhythmic sequence that suggests both contemporary design and timeless craft traditions. Above and below this concentrated zone of color, the ceramic surface remains untouched, allowing the eye to rest in expansive cream planes. The elliptical form gently compresses from front to back, creating subtle dimensional shifts as one moves around the piece. At seven inches high, the work achieves perfect balance between intimate scale and confident presence.

This work belongs to the JeanElton OvalVase Collection, distinguished by its elliptical footprint and the gentle warping that creates asymmetrical curves when viewed from different angles. The form's subtle compression enhances the horizontal emphasis of the decorative band, while the pristine cream surfaces above and below amplify the pattern's visual impact.

Only a bold tuxedo would mix olive green and passionate purple!

Thursday is behind-the-scenes day. Luna, our Engagement Manager, walks through the Certificate of Authenticity that travels with every JeanElton piece: the photo, the Collection and size, the catalog reference that matches the one handwritten on the underside, the founders who sign it, and a code that opens a short film of how its Collection is made.

A bold elegance wrapped in regal hues: A Formal Passion for Purple is a striking member of the JeanElton TallVase Collection, where structure and color converge in a dynamic visual interplay. The piece takes its name from the crisp black-and-white checkerboard encircling the rim, reminiscent of the refined contrast of formal attire, while the dominant purple tones infuse the work with a sense of richness and depth. A mosaic of geometric patterns, interwoven with gold and black, creates a dynamic sense of movement across the matte surface, inviting the eye to explore its intricate details.

Thursday. Behind the scenes.

Four different questions. Four different routes. The same piece waiting at the end of each.

Ask the gallery for the OvalVase collection — Gilded Silence is there. Ask instead for a matte interior — there it is again. Ask for Metallic & Cream. Ask for a tall and narrow proportional form. Same piece, every time.

That is what cataloging one hundred seventy-five works properly buys you. You do not have to know what a piece is called to find it. You only have to know what you are looking for — and if you have a combination in mind that we don't show, talk to us.

The gallery is open to everyone now.

Wednesday. In situ day.

Gilded Silence, where it belongs.

Seventeen inches of matte black, with one corridor of warm ivory and a single stripe of gold running its full height. It is narrow in depth — four inches — so it reads as a plane rather than a volume. That is why it wants a shallow surface and a dark wall behind it, not a broad table.

Give it low light from one side and the gold does the rest.

Our online gallery is open — one hundred seventy-five works of JeanElton ceramic art, each with a page of its own, many photographed in their settings the way this one was.

Gold burns through velvet darkness.

This piece commands attention through its bold, graphic composition—a study in dramatic restraint. Vertical bands of matte black flank a luminous central corridor where warm ivory frames a single stripe of molten gold. The interplay between shadow and light creates a visual tension that draws the eye inward, as if glimpsing a precious seam of sunlight through a partially opened door. The artist's hand reveals itself in the subtle variations of the gold's lustrous surface, where the metallic glaze catches and releases light with each shift in perspective.
This work belongs to the JeanElton OvalVase Collection, distinguished by its elliptical cross-section and characteristic undulating rim. Standing seventeen inches in height, the form's gentle curves soften the bold geometry of the surface design, creating a dialogue between sculptural fluidity and graphic precision. The sweeping arc of the rim introduces an element of organic grace that counterbalances the strict verticality of the painted bands below.
The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.

Our new online gallery is open. One hundred seventy-five works, each with a page of its own.

Gilded Silence and last week's Bold Fold share a color family, Gold & Metallic — one of the ways the gallery lets you move sideways through the work, along with surface treatment, proportional form and scale.

Metal meets motion.

Bold Fold is a striking work in the JeanElton TallVase (TV) Collection, where dramatic movement and radiant sheen converge. Its sharply folded contours evoke a sense of deliberate tension, like the pressed crease of a sculptural fabric caught mid-sway. Coated in a luminous metallic gloss—both inside and out—the piece plays with light and shadow as it shifts throughout the day, emphasizing its angularity and depth.

A single round portal punctuates the surface, adding a moment of openness amid the structure's bold geometry. This subtle void invites curiosity, as though offering a glimpse through to something just beyond perception.

The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.

Thursday is our behind-the-scenes day, and this one is about surface. Bold Fold carries a Metallic surface treatment — one of twenty-three we use, and none of them are stock glazes. Each was developed in our studio, tested and named. Color is a separate question from treatment: Bold Fold's color family is Gold & Metallic, and so is Gilded Silence, which looks nothing like it. Our new online gallery lets you search by treatment, by color family, and by finish.

The web address of the new JeanElton gallery goes to our mailing list this week. Everyone else receives it the week beginning September 20.
