In January 1980, we opened The Rug Merchant division so that designers would have a local venue for all types of area rugs. Today, The Rug Merchant has grown to be in the top 10% in size of all area rug stores in the United States. We are proud of our growth and want you to be a part of it. - Terry Lewis, owner.

Some things just don’t translate through a screen. The texture, colors, and details of a rug can feel completely different once you see it in person.

Sometimes, the rug you would’ve scrolled right past online is the one you can’t stop looking at in the showroom. Come see what catches your eye at our showroom or give us a call at 812-423-2338 with any questions.

Handing over the keys isn’t always the end of helping your clients feel at home. A new house brings new rooms, new dimensions, and plenty of decisions about what goes where.

If your buyers need help finding rugs for their new space, send them our way. We’ll help with sizing, color, style, and budget, and give them the opportunity to see their options in person before making a decision.

We appreciate every referral you send to The Rug Merchant, and we’ll take good care of your clients when they get here.

You don't have to redecorate the whole room to make your home feel warmer for fall. Sometimes, you just need to start from the ground up.

Rich reds. Rusts. Warm neutrals. Deep greens. Earthy patterns. The right rug can bring warmth into a room now without feeling like seasonal décor you'll want to pack away in December.

And color is one of the best reasons to shop for a rug in person. What looks one way on a screen can feel completely different when it's right in front of you.

Come wander the showroom and see what catches your eye.

You may be surprised by what you fall for.

Designers, bring us what you’re working with.

Floor plans, fabric samples, paint colors, or inspiration photos can all help us narrow down rugs that fit your vision. At The Rug Merchant, you can compare colors and materials in person, work through sizing, and pull options from one of the largest rug inventories in the Midwest.

Think of us as a local resource that can make sourcing the right rug a little easier.

The rug looked perfect online.

Then it arrived, and the color wasn't quite what you expected. Maybe the texture felt different, or the size just didn't work in your room. Some things are simply hard to judge from a screen.

At The Rug Merchant, you can see the colors, feel the textures, compare your options, and ask questions along the way. Stop by our showroom at 1019 Lincoln Avenue in Evansville and shop with more confidence.

These are the three mistakes we see most often—and they're all easy to avoid.

One of the biggest advantages of shopping in person is having someone walk through these decisions with you before you buy.

We'll help you compare sizes, see true colors, and find a rug that fits both your space and your lifestyle.

No-regrets rugs start here. Call us at 812-423-2338 to learn more!
