We’re growing, and we’re looking for two people to grow with us.

Factor is hiring an Architect & a Site Superintendent. If you’ve ever wanted to work somewhere the whole process lives under one roof, this is that place. Just talented people who care about getting it right and standing behind the work long after it’s finished.

If that sounds like the kind of team you want to build with, we’d love to hear from you.

An exterior facelift, built on contrast.

White stone veneer against Thermory ash siding, finished with Cutek oil for UV protection. Hemlock T&G overhead. The bright, crisp stone makes the warm wood stand out, and the entry door was removed and reinstalled so the transom lines up with the existing metal canopy.

Small alignments make a big difference from the street.

There's a specific kind of kitchen that gets designed for the people who will actually use it to host.

You can tell by what's hidden as much as what's shown: a pantry sized to absorb the chaos before guests arrive, prep space wide enough that cooking doesn't feel like a solo act.

The walnut is the part everyone photographs, but it's the island's scale that actually makes the parties work.

S**g carpet is going into this conversation pit.

It’s extremely period, and this house is going to be a full 1960s mid-mod. Once the s**g wraps the walls of the pit, the whole space is going to feel special.

Some details are worth getting exactly right.

The Forest St. Project. Marble, walnut & brass in a white kitchen that doesn't chase trends. A butler's pantry built for entertaining. A marble bath with a freestanding tub and dual-head shower. Classic to the studs.

Before you even call a design-build firm: get aligned in your own household first.

What you want to discuss, what the possibilities are, what matters most to each of you… sorting that out early has more impact on your quality of life through a remodel than almost anything else.

Advice worth taking before step one.

Most backyard projects stop at landscaping. This one started with a different question: what would make this feel like part of the house, not separate from it?

The answer ended up being less about any single feature & more about how it's all stitched together. 5280 Magazine noticed the same thing we did: it works in every season.

The best clients aren't the easiest, they're the most engaged.

The projects that turn out best are the ones where the homeowner is actually in it with us: invested in the process, not just waiting for the reveal.

Same goal on both sides: a high-quality result, delivered on time, that feels like a good experience the whole way through.

That's a partnership, not just a job.

There's a version of modern design that reads as sterile: all hard edges, no warmth. This porch is the counterargument.

The materials are doing the emotional work: one light, one dark, both built to weather honestly rather than stay pristine.

That's the detail easy to miss in photos but impossible to miss in person: a porch that invites you to sit down, not just admire it from the doorway.

Multi-stack sliders vs. accordion doors: for indoor-outdoor space, it's not just a look, it's a real estate question.

Sliders stack & disappear without swinging into the room, so you're not losing kitchen space to an open door.

You can even screen them. Small decision, big impact on how the space actually functions day to day.
