What if the design process began with a different question? Not simply what should a space look like, but how can it help people thrive?

At TRIO, our approach starts by looking beyond aesthetics to understand the people who will experience each space. By bringing together research, creativity, and intentional design, we create spaces that not only look beautiful but make a meaningful difference in how people live and feel. Explore the thinking behind our work at the link in bio.

In a competitive market, thoughtful spaces can make all the difference. By first understanding the people who will experience them, we can create environments that feel personal and have a distinct sense of place, rather than simply following design trends.

Sorella at Loretto Heights presented an opportunity to do more than transform a historic building. It meant rethinking how a place with such a strong identity could serve people in a completely new chapter. We took a human-centric approach to the design, considering how residents move through the building, where they gather, where they retreat, and what makes a space feel intuitive and welcoming. The result was a new residential experience centered around the way people live today.

What makes a piece of art resonate with us? Research in neuroaesthetics shows how the context surrounding a piece, along with our memories and experiences, can shape our response to it. As a designer, I see that as part of art’s power in a space - beyond its visual impact, it can evoke emotion and give a room a deeper sense of identity.
