❓Will A Mud Board Look Bad❓
- We get this question a lot -

And as you can see from this picture… it DOESN'T LOOK BAD at all, if anything, it adds to the feel of your backyard with a clean intentional and finished look. A mud board sits at the bottom of the fence to protect the boards from moisture and ground contact, helping extend the life of the fence.

But it also serves another important purpose:
-It allows us to handle uneven yards the right way.

Instead of a fence that rises and dips with the ground (topography), the mud board lets the top of the fence stay smooth and flowing, while the bottom adjusts naturally where needed. The mud board showing more showing in some areas and less in others.

It’s one of those details people worry about before the install…and appreciate long after it’s done. That’s the

📸 ANOTHER FENCE WE DIDN’T DO
We didn’t build this fence…
And we surely wouldn’t have built it like this if we did.

Take a look...the horizontal 2x4 was too short to reach the post. So instead of getting a longer 2x4, someone “scabbed” on an extra piece of wood just to make it reach. Why? Because they know the homeowner will probably never see it 🤦🏻‍♂️

Let’s be clear:
👉 We don't cut corners (literally or figuratively).
👉 We don’t patch mistakes.
👉 We don’t “hope it holds.”

Fence King crews show up with the right materials, right tools, and the right know-how to do it right the first time.
Our rails span post to post...fully secured, not Frankensteined together like a bad shop class project.

When you're ready for privacy, security, and peace of mind you and your family deserves.. without the shortcut craftsmanship, then give Chloe a call below ⬇️, she'll happily set you up with one of our Project Managers to do an onsite consultation.

📸 ANOTHER FENCE WE DIDN’T DO 👑
(But we’ll be the ones fixing it)

This is what happens when the person giving advice doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

They told the homeowner:
“Just swap the 6' tall fence boards for 8' tall boards… save a little money!”

Problem? The original framework was designed for 6'.
Now you’ve got 2.5 feet of fence board hanging in the wind with no support...guaranteed to warp, twist, and bow like a dollar store paper towel roll.

☹️ They didn’t save money…
☹️ They're spending more money...and more then they had to...
🏆 Now they’re calling a real professional to build it the right way!
💪🏻 Had they called us the first time, they’d have saved time, money, and headaches.

We don’t slap up fences.
We design them.
We engineer them.
We build them to last.

Let’s Talk Mud / Rot Boards

❓Why Do We Use Them❓
-Because the bottom of a fence is the first place moisture, dirt, and rot try to do damage.

❓What’s The Purpose❓
-A pressure-treated mud board sits between the ground and your fence boards.
-It keeps the board out of constant ground contact, helping protect it from moisture and extending the life of your fence.

❓What Else Do They Do❓
-Mud boards also solve another common problem most yards have…the dreaded uneven ground.
-Instead of the fence top flowing with the up & down of the topography like a roller coaster, the mud board allows the top of the fence to stay smoother and flowing, while what's seen of the mud board adjusts from larger to smaller exposure.

❓What’s the end result❓
• A longer-lasting fence
• Cleaner lines
• A fence that looks intentional, not rushed
• Better protection where it matters most
It’s a small detail that makes a big difference.

❓Why Was This Custom Fence Affordable❓
-A board-on-board, total-privacy fence, capped and trimmed, with a mud board, isn’t usually the most economical option.
-But because this fence was built with Northern Redwood Cedar, which is exclusively offered by Fence King and developed and sourced specifically for their customers, it was done at a cost that actually made sense.
