This year Bowen’s Annual Meeting coincided perfectly with National Employee Ownership Month.

It’s been a record year for Bowen on many levels. We opened our new Erie, PA design studio and added 24 new employees between both Cleveland and Erie. Not to mention the many public and commercial projects we have on the boards.

A hallmark of this event is the issue of stock certificates to all our full-time employees. As an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) we are 100% employee-owned.

Our latest ribbon cutting is for the Auburn Career Center!

Bowen led this 18,000 SF renovation at the Auburn Career Center. We worked closely with ACC to develop a program of requirements that fit the needs of multiple programs and services within their budget. The renovated wing includes classrooms, simulation spaces, and administrative spaces.

Congratulations are in order for Interior Designer Charlotte Smoley! She won the IIDA Student Project of the Year for her thesis project, The Still & Social.

Charlotte is a recent graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art and joined the Bowen Interior Design team soon afterwards.

Here’s an excerpt from her award submittal -

Design should never become a one size fits all solution. Instead, it should create opportunities for people to experience spaces in ways that best meet their individual needs.

This belief became the foundation of my senior thesis project, The Still & Social, a sensory inclusive farm to table restaurant designed to redefine what an inclusive dining experience can be. While many restaurants focus on maximizing energy, efficiency, and revenue, they often overlook how overwhelming noise, bright lighting, visual clutter, and unpredictable layouts can negatively affect guests with sensory sensitivities. My goal was to demonstrate that thoughtful interior design can transform restaurants into places where people not only feel welcome but genuinely comfortable.
