When did lighting become art?!

I’ve been noticing so many beautiful light fixtures lately, and I LOVE how much personality they bring to a room!

The shapes, the textures, the oversized chandeliers, even the fabric shades! There’s just so much you can do with lighting. And it doesn’t always have to be big or bold to make a difference.

I think sometimes we spend so much time thinking about the furniture, wallpaper, and paint that we forget to look up!

They say when you do what you love, you end up working harder than you ever imagined. And I think there’s so much truth to that. 🤍

Running a small business takes a lot of grit, sacrifice, and a whole lot of heart. But I don’t want that to overshadow all the beautiful moments in between, because there are SO many!

Getting to share our love for vintage furniture, seeing a piece come back to life, finishing a project we’ve poured our hearts into, or helping a family create a home that truly works for them. Those are the moments that remind us why we started.

And getting to share all of that with YOU makes it even more special.

I have a few design opinions that not everyone is going to agree with. 😂

A TV above the fireplace? YES. Keeping your original kitchen cabinets? Sometimes that’s the best decision! And a dining room you only use a few times a year? I love it.

After years of designing homes (and raising four boys!), I’ve learned that not every design rule makes sense for every family. And that’s what makes interior design so much fun!

Seriously, there’s so much you can do with these little spaces! Pattern on pattern, vintage chairs, a cozy banquette, or a simple table tucked by a window.

And my favorite part? They’re not just for breakfast. They’re for homework, long conversations, family game nights, and that second cup of coffee.🙌🏼

I hope we don’t lose this. 🤍

I’ve been thinking about this SO much lately. I think it’s amazing what technology can do, but I also really hope we don’t forget how special it is to just be human.

To make things with our hands, have crazy ideas, mess up, laugh about it, and try again!! 😂

And this is something I LOVE about MegMade. Sitting with people, hearing all their ideas (even the ones they think are crazy!), and figuring out how to make them happen together. That’s my favorite part of design.

I love a beautiful room, obviously!! But I love the people and stories behind it even more.

I just hope we never lose that. 🤍

Anyone else feel like November hits and suddenly you want to change EVERYTHING in your house before the holidays?! 😂

I’m trying to keep things a little simpler this year. And as much as I LOVE decorating, I’ve realized sometimes it’s not about adding more stuff. It’s about finding pieces that actually make your home work better for you!

That’s one of my favorite things about vintage furniture. A dresser can become a buffet, a cabinet can hold all your holiday dishes, and a great pair of chairs can come in handy when the whole family shows up!! 😍
