Where a thermostat is mounted, and what sits near it, can shape how comfortable the rest of the home feels.
A lamp, television or sunny window close to the thermostat can warm its sensor so the furnace shuts off early, leaving bedrooms and back rooms cooler than the display suggests. A draft from a nearby exterior door or a kitchen that warms up during cooking can throw off the reading in a similar way.
In many Lincolnwood homes, moving a floor lamp, lowering the blinds near the thermostat on bright afternoons, or sealing the wall opening behind it can make temperatures more consistent.
If the reading still seems out of step with how your home feels, our technicians can evaluate whether relocating the thermostat would help, and we look forward to hearing from you.
