We’re turning our family room into a cozy, playful space for family time, movie nights and creative play, while keeping the character of our 140-year-old home. Mixing old with new? Say less!

The 1977 sectional is the starting point. Its curves, modular design and custom options make it a piece we can make our own and adapt as life changes or the mood strikes! You see it here in the color Leura S Caramel, but we have a little secret: We picked up replaceable covers in a soft sage (Leura S Wattle) for future use!

And Chicago friends, highly recommend visiting the King Living Lincoln Park showroom to experience the collection in person or explore it online at KingLiving.com.

“When I grow up and get married, I’m living alone!”

We had fuuun this year recreating one of THE greatest movies of all time, Home Alone! Lucy paid homage to the great Catherine O’Hara and absolutely nailed it, while I think our little Kevin is a rising star, what do you think?💫

Tap the linked Reel to see our recreation of a few favorite scenes from the movie!🎥🎬

A dining room designed with finds all from The Home Depot? Say less!

From the table to the brass candlesticks, The Home Depot made it a one stop shop. We went moody with light wood and black accents (no surprise there!), and seeing it brought to life in The Home Depot catalog is such a thrill!

Check your mailbox, then shop the whole look online at The Home Depot, just in time for the holidays! ✨ Saved the link in bio for you (tap this Reel), and shared in Stories, too!

It wasn’t until Lucy came along that we started decorating for Halloween (it’s her favorite holiday by a landslide), and every year we think, why didn’t we do this sooner? It’s so fun to sit on our front porch and see families walking by, pointing out their favorite features. (It’s the flying witches for us!)

Do you decorate for Halloween? I’d love to see what you’ve done! Drop a photo below or send a DM my way!🎃💀

I can’t believe we ever second guessed going all in with walnut ceilings. Best. Decision. Ever. for our little mid century ranch.🤎

We’ve settled back into routines, which feels nice (I think?). Even better, summer is still hanging around, so we spent most weekends chasing the warmth and dipping our toes in the big lake as much as possible. And of course, our gorgey foster girl Sweet Pea stole our hearts — and everyone else’s.

What are you looking forward to most this October? I’ll go first.👇

10+ years with our plant pocket. I thought I would be more sad, but I suppose it goes to show that I’m ready for a fresh start.

Can’t wait to share the final plans for this wall! Be sure to follow along, because I hide the good stuff in Stories.🫶

It’s been 3 years since we installed our stand alone fireplace. I mean, is it even The Red House without it?

After purchasing the home in 2023, we planned for for the fireplace. We measured down to the 1/4″ to ensure proper clearances around it for the big sliding door. We adjusted walls, cabinets and future furniture layouts for it. In short, we considered the fireplace in every single decision we made until it was installed. So. Many. Micro. Decisions.

On YellowBrickHome.com, we’re giving you a big 3-year update, what model we have, why we chose it, what makes it a standout and more! Link in bio, friends.🫶🪵🔥

Can’t stop won’t stop using this slick walnut hardware. (You’ve seen this in our Red House kitchen, too!) Inspired by midcentury homes that focus on bringing the outdoors in, this hardware allows the wood tone to shine, exuding warmth and comfort. This wall is SO close to being complete, just need to check a few more items off the list before the full reveal!🤎

What do you think? Would you go all in with wood tones in your home?

Custom by our friends norman leigh design (and yes, they ship!).
