This live oak was still wearing its Christmas lights — net lighting wrapped around the trunk and up into the major limbs, left on long enough for the tree to start growing around it.
That's a real problem, not just an eyesore: as a limb grows, the wire doesn't. It embeds in the bark and starts girdling the wood it crosses.
Today's job was all climbing — deadwood and minor clearance on two live oaks, and every strand of that lighting cut out of the one wearing it. No bucket truck, just ropes and saws.
Clean crowns, clean bark, room to grow.
