Ahh, the lonely chair. But don’t feel bad for her! She’s a standout!

Perfect for avoiding crowds, holding your not-quite-dirty-but-definitely-not-clean clothes, or taking a little time-out.

I love a single chair because it’s an opportunity to have a little fun. Dress her up! Give her some personality! And since she’s doing her own thing, she doesn’t need to perfectly match the rest of the room.

So get those patterns out, throw caution to the wind, and let that chair have her moment!

Every time I saw a dining area integrated into a kitchen island, I was…well, not so into it. But the layout of this kitchen really called for it, so I put my prejudices aside and we went for it. And I’m so glad we did.

I love a green kitchen, and the dropped dining table gave us the perfect opportunity to introduce another material (layer, layer, layer, people!). White oak end grain was the answer: durable enough to stand up to everyday family life, but warm enough to soften the stone countertop and painted cabinetry. It also creates a nice balance with the floating wood shelves along the perimeter walls.

Throw in a printed shade, some beautiful kitchen things, and voilà! A family kitchen that’s beautiful, functional, and, most importantly, true to the needs of the space.

Let’s talk nightstands, because there’s a little more to choosing the right one than finding something pretty to put a lamp on.

One of my favorite ways to add personality to a bedroom is through the bedside tables. I love mixing materials, playing with vintage pieces, and choosing something that adds a little contrast to an upholstered bed. And while I’m all for breaking a few design rules, proportion is one thing I always pay attention to.

Swipe through a few of my favorite bedside moments from past projects. Different styles, different materials, and proof that a nightstand can bring just as much personality to a bedroom as the bed itself.

The things that make a home feel incredibly charming aren’t always the things you’d expect.

A breakfast nook that makes mornings better. A headboard with a shape you haven’t seen a hundred times before. Colorful tile in the bathroom. A powder room that takes a risk. Bookshelves filled with books you’ve actually read. A guest room designed for how people really stay.

For us, the best homes have personality, function, and at least one detail that makes you stop and look twice.

A case for letting the sofa be the color. đź’š

This living room started with a palette that feels fresh without feeling overly precious: soft blues, warm neutrals, natural woven textures, and that perfect green velvet anchoring the whole space. From there, it was all about layering in pattern and just enough contrast to keep your eye moving.

The result is bright, yet comfortable. Exactly how we want a living room to feel.

A family room has to do a little bit of everything. Movie nights, homework, morning coffee, kids sprawled across the sofa, and everyone somehow ending up in the same room at once.

That’s why a good layout makes all the difference. Thoughtful furniture placement, plenty of comfortable seating, and a flow that actually works for everyday life can completely change how a room feels and functions.

And because functional doesn’t have to mean boring, we’ll always take the bonus points for color, pattern, and plenty of texture.

There’s something so satisfying about seeing the original material palette come to life. The stone, warm wood, different tile hues.

Swipe to see how the flat lay became the final bathroom. We love watching all those tiny decisions finally make sense together.

A little tour of our mountain home 🤍

Designing your own home is such a different experience from designing for a client. There’s no real finish line. It evolves as you live in it, adding pieces you love, moving things around, and letting each room become a reflection of how your family actually uses it.

This house is full of color, pattern, vintage finds, natural materials, and plenty of things that don’t necessarily “match” but somehow feel right together. I wanted it to feel warm and collected, like a home that had developed its personality over time rather than one that was decorated all at once.

There are so many spaces I love, but the living room will always be a favorite. It’s where everyone naturally ends up, especially when the fire is going. And the bunk room is probably the most fun I had designing a room in the entire house. The deep red bunks, scalloped details, plaids, and warm wood give it exactly the nostalgic mountain-camp feeling I was hoping for.

More than anything, I love that this house feels like us. Comfortable, colorful, a little quirky, and meant to actually be lived in. I hope you enjoy this peek around one of my favorite places.

Some kitchens are made for cooking. This one was made for everyone to end up in (and also, cooking, of course).

The oversized island gives you plenty of room to gather, while the breakfast nook tucked into the windows creates a completely different kind of moment just a few feet away. I especially love the combination of pale oak cabinetry, those incredible glass pendants, blue leather counter stools, and the tiny hit of pattern in the backsplash.

As we head into fall, there’s something especially good about a warm wool rug underfoot. Beyond making a room feel cozier, rugs are one of my favorite ways to change the entire architecture of a space without touching a wall. They can define a seating area, connect pieces that otherwise feel unrelated, bring pattern into a quieter room, or give an oversized space the scale it needs.
