Tom Ahlers Sr. The “Pizza King “ in his day. Coming back from a Hawaii vacation Tom Sr. and his family were the first to create the Ham and pineapple pizza, in the mid 70’, in their kitchen on East Grove St. 61701 where they created most of there recipes. Tom Sr. was the first to offer the Hawaiian Pizza at his Pizza World stores in Bloomington Normal IL and other campus towns. Tom Sr. was also the first to create the “Late Night Special “ 8”pizza, Snickers Bar and a one litter RC cola in a megaphone cup. Served in all of his 17 stores on Illinois campuses. Unfortunately his employees and business partners ate most of the snickers. He was also the first to engineer and utilize the three sided delivery sign. Let’s not forget the thick crust Entire World. Dad provided a lot of jobs, the hole family worked in the operations. A lot of jobs, he always made payroll his priority. Dad was a Marketing Jedi Master, If you were an employee you were family and you knew it! This is an issue of the “Pizza World News”, The Parade Edition, a weekly news paper 70’-90’.
