A little tile education, a lot of design inspiration. ✨

Last week, some of our interiors team traveled to Toronto for a behind-the-scenes tour of Olympia Tile + Stone, exploring the world of tile and stone beyond the showroom.

From learning how tile is manufactured to getting a closer look at the materials, processes, and craftsmanship behind the finished product, the visit offered valuable insight into the details that inform thoughtful material selection.

Understanding how a material is made, how it performs, and what makes each product unique helps our team make more informed design decisions and better guide our clients through the selection process.

A big thank-you to the Olympia Tile + Stone team for welcoming our group and sharing their expertise! We came away with fresh inspiration, new knowledge, and plenty of ideas for future projects. 🧱

BREAKING NEWS: Gus had the zoomies. 🚨🐾

It doesn’t happen often, so naturally, we had to document the occasion. Watch this chonky little pug zoom around with a stick like he hasn’t a single responsibility in the world.

Featuring Todd, who was lucky enough to be the center of attention and the official stick finder responsible for this rare burst of athleticism.

The stick was found. The zoomies were activated. Order has since been restored at SDA.

“I have a job, but I’m worried it might be too small for you.”

We hear this more often than you might think. And our answer is always the same: No job is too small.

Yes, we’re licensed in 37 states and Washington, D.C. Yes, we’ve worked on some pretty BIG projects. But not every project needs to be big to make a meaningful difference.

Maybe you’re dreaming of adding a front porch, rethinking your window placement, or finding a better way to make your home work for your family. Those projects matter, too.

Our commercial work takes us across the country, but our residential work gives us the opportunity to serve the homes, families, and communities right here in our own backyard.

Good design isn't measured by the size of the project. It's about understanding the people behind it, listening to their vision, and helping bring it to life.

So if you've been holding back because you think your project might be too small for us, consider this your invitation to reach out. We'd love to hear what you're dreaming up. 🏡

Our front steps are looking extra festive with this colorful collection adding a little personality to our new home.

We took advantage of the warm fall afternoons we've been lucky enough to enjoy and carved pumpkins together to celebrate spooky season! We think our pumpkins are pretty gourd company! 🍂

Last month, Josh and Lauren headed to Alfred State for the Fall Career Fair to connect with the next generation of architects and designers.

For Josh, an Alfred alum, it was a chance to return to campus, see what’s changed, and reflect on how far the journey from student to professional can take you. For both, it was an opportunity to share experiences, answer questions, and hear fresh perspectives from students preparing to take their own next steps.

There were a number of inspiring conversations, reminders of why investing in emerging talent matters and plenty of laughs -- thanks to the absolutely chaotic stickers Lauren insisted on handing out.

A big thank-you to Alfred State and the students who took the time to connect with us. We loved being part of the conversation! 💙

A little detail that makes a BIG difference. 🏡

The shutters are going up at Mix Place, and the house is starting to look like a happy home once more!

Here’s a fun detail: While they have the classic look of traditional wooden shutters, these are made from PVC boards, assembled piece by piece just like their wood counterparts. The difference? They offer that timeless character with added durability and resistance to rot and moisture damage.

It’s a great example of how thoughtful material choices can honor a building’s history while helping it stand up to the years ahead.

One more detail bringing Mix Place back to life, and we’re loving every bit of it. 💚

📍 Site visit | Market Square, Henrietta, NY

What looks like an empty space to some is a whole lot of information to us. 👀

Today’s site visit was all about documenting the existing conditions and getting a clear understanding of the space before design work moves forward. It may not be the most glamorous part of the process, but it is one of the most important.

Accurate existing conditions documentation gives our team the foundation we need to develop a design that works with the space as it actually exists, helping turn our client’s vision into reality as smoothly as possible.

So, what do you think is coming next for this space?

Take your best guess. We’ll be back to show you. 👀
